My hifonics bxi1210d amp goes to protect mode 2 seconds after turn on

As soon as i turn on the amp it goes into protect mode like 2 seconds later. thats with the subs disconnected and even the rca's disconnected. what could be the problem? is the amp considered burned out? Ive tried doing the reset where you just put ground then connect the positive and it makes a spark. but it doesnt solve the problem. also i have tried it in other cars and it does the same thing. i have rewired grounds and upgraded cables but no luck. any advice or tips?

Hello beaugarcia26,

Unless the amp itself is defective, there's a short or ground somewhere.

First disconnect the speaker wires and RCA (or high level) inputs, leaving just ground, remote turn-on and power leads connected. Then see if the amp powers up normally. If it doesn't check the ground with a multimeter and make sure it is good. If the amp powers up normally, check the speaker, speaker wires and inputs for shorts or grounds.

Hope this helps.

you should not have any spark from your ground...you may want check and make sure your ground is properly installed. Try wiring the amp without the cap and see if that works.

Try reversed the connection, hang the positive supply together with the ground. Then connect the ground first before the positive supply. If the spark is still there then you are confirmed that you have a short on the unit. Fixing is not DIY because it is quite technical. I rather suggest to send it to a repair shop to isolate the shorted parts. A series of test will be perform to locate where the short come from.

As soon as I hook the amp up it goes into protection mode. But in about 10 seconds it flashes off protection mode but them goes right back into protection mode. And it keeps doing this as long as the amp...

If you disconnect your speakers and input and the problems remain it means you've blown your end-stage and the amp needs repair.

if the problem disappears when disconnecting the speakers you may want to check if the impedance of your speakers is within tolerance of the amp.

Well, I have no idea why you would have two capacitors on a 500 watt amp but, did you charge the capacitors? Have you tried the amp without the capacitors? What size power wire are you using?

Amp not working

sounds like the amp is going into protection mode. maybe a sub is shorted (blown). Or, the only other possibility is the mosfet transistors on the inside of the amp are blown.

HiFonics txi4008 not working, partially lighting up

Sounds like your amp has some power supply compents shorted out. Maybe some of the power mosfets are shorted and your only getting a little bit of power. That why only the H is lighting and as far as the green light, it don't take much for it to turn on. If it was major it would go into protect mode but it is'nt. I repair amps for a living and I'm the cheapest you'll find. But if you know about electronics and think you can take a crack at it, check it out. Becareful you could do more damage. Okay i have a problem hifonics brutus 1500 mono d class amp

well your amplifier is obviously going into protect mode,(i used to have this amp and it is awesome) anyway i would go through just to be sure and check all the power connections with a test light, remote wire, positive, and ground. and check the fuse to see if it is still good. you can buy a test light at wal-mart and any automotive store. if you stil have a problem then i would check to see if your running below 1 ohm on this amp. that would cause it to go into protect mode. if all this fails i would just go buy a new one.
