Got a new hd reciever. can't get hd channels

First make sure your receiver is connected with one of the following.. HDMI (one cord resembling a usb cord but shaped on the ends a little diffrent) or Component wires (this cable is made of 5 wires red and white for sound and red, blue, green for picture) these are the only two ways your receiver will deliver true HD.. Once you've verified that your receiver is connected with one of those methods if you are still not receiving your HD channels you must call your cable provider and tell them there is a code missing from your account.. The cable system has codes that interact with your equipment that tells your receiver what you are allowed or paying to watch in your case the code for HD is missing.. Remember a normal coaxial cable will not deliver true HD from your receiver to your tv. Although that cable does bring the signal to your receiver. There's a good video that can teach you a lot about how this stuff works, might be worth looking into.

I have a Panasonic Tx l37S10B tv set, & a PanasonicDVD recorder,DMR-EX768EB. To ensure I receive true HD i have bought a Humax Fox T2 hd Digital receiver. I use these items to receive & record HD...

Hi,

You didn't fully expain how each device is connected to the others. I don't think you have this set up correctly. Your DVD cannot record in HD so there is no point sending an HD signal to it - it can't process it. This is how I would set it up:

1. Install a 2-way splitter on the input cable
2. Connect output 1 from the splitter to the Humax receiver
3. Connect the Humax receiver to the TV with an HDMI cable
4. Connect output 2 from the splitter to the DVD
5. Connect the DVD to the TV with SCART cable.

This will enable you to watch HDTV via the digital receiver and also provide an input from source (dish/cable) to your DVD player so that you can record.

If you've already set it up this way then it should work. I suspect you've connected the Humax to the DVD and TV and also the DVD to the TV.

Please try this setup and post back if you need further assistance.

I have an longtime problem with my flm 3232 polaroid hdtv. I have dish network service with the dual receiver. The 3232 is the second tv connected via a coax cable. it work fine on the tv cable input...

Hello, you probably already have gotten this resolved, but I do have some answers to your post. Any cable that you have running from TV1 to the TV2 will nor give you a true HD picture. You could get a CAT5 cable with HDMI ends, but the longer the cable, the less true HD you have. The best resolution to this is to get an additional receiver, or to just stick with the SD picture. HD problems

A couple. Check to make sure your "in disc" audio is set to True HD (not multi). This while disc is playing.
Player /receiver wise make sure Direct Digital is set to "on". Also make sure your receiver is ready to go so that the HDMI handshake occurs with the receiver on the right "channel". That can also be forced to handshake by switching modes then switching back.
Make sure your using a 2.0 HDMI cable.
Good luck.

HDMI SOUND

True HD can only work with HDMI interface and is only available on some newer HD DVDs. Check the DVD to see if the True HD encoding is available.

Dolby True HD

I don't think TrueHD can be passed over s/pdif. I think it requires HDMI (1.3) audio or 8 RCA outs/ins.
