This usually indicates worn valve seals, when you park enough oil drips onto the pistons and when you start it, the engine burns off the oil first.
I don't think the parts are that much but the labor can add up
Ask if they have the means to replace them without removing the head, this means they use air pressure in the spark plug hole to hold the valve in place while they replace the seals,this way it is a same day repair and should only take a couple of hours

Quite often "hall effect pick-up" in distributor is problem . Remove distributor cap and rotor and you'll see the round plate with wire harness/plug to it. motor1258_29.jpg

the white smoke is oil smoke,check your valve stem seals,if they are bad it will smoke till it burns the oil that leaked by when it was sitting.as far as it stalling in the morning check your choke it may need adjusting.

Sounds like you do a good job on oil changes. Just use a good grade oil. I like castrol. I've been scared of valvoline since they bought out quaker state.
