I have this problem as well.. All washing machines manufactured nowadays are energy effficient, which means that they don't use as much water as the older models. This can result in a build-up of bacteria in the top part of the washing machine, which is clogging up the bit where the water comes through to flush the fabric conditioner into the drum. What I have to do every so often, is to take the top off the washing machine and clean out the layer of black slime that has built up, blocking the holes where the water goes into the washing machine. Another contributory factor is that the usual program used is a 40 degree wash, which is not hot enough to completely flush the machine through. Manufacturers recommend running a 90 degree wash once a month with just washing powder in iit, no clothes. Hope this is some help
SOURCE: Fabric Sofner won't dispense
hi there remove the soap drawer then remove the cover over the softener compartment you will more than likely find a blockage in the cover siphon or the down tube on the drawer
SOURCE: Bleach and Fabric Softner Dispenser
This is absolutely normal and you dont have to worry about it..
The reason for this:
The fabric softener compartment uses an over flow method to get the
fabric softener out of its compartment and into the wash load. Water
comes up underneath through a syphon tube and gently fills the fabric
softener dispenser and causes it to over flow in its diluted state. The
reason for this is that it is the most effective way for fabric
softener to be diluted prior to hitting the clothes in the drum. Fabric
softener has to be diluted before coming into contact with fabrics.
This is in contrast to how detergents dispensers work which simply
flush the soap powder in to the drum by water being squirted on to it
from above.
It is perfectly normal to have a fabric softener dispenser full of
clean water after the wash cycle. Just lift and empty it out when you
need to fill it with fabric softner for your next wash

Hello Everyone,
I had the same problem with my washing machine, what I didn't find the push button they are talking about, but what I realised, that at the bottom of the drawer, in the middle of it, there is a hing that keeps the drawer in its place, I used a screw driver to push that hing, and got the drawer out.
I have cleaned the fabric softner section, but when i put it on again, I got the same problem again, I am not sure about the reason of that.
If someone can help on that one, that would be great ;)
SOURCE: Bleach and Fabric Dispenser not working
Got a Brand new LG ~ WT5001CW toploader today. I did 2 loads of wash. Theres a Bleach Dispenser on the top left side but I didn't use it. In the middle of my 2nd wash I noticed the bleach dispenser was full of water. I thought well maybe after the rinse and the spin it would take the water out. Well when the cycle was complete the Bleach Dispenser was still full of water.
I took the Bleach dispenser out and checked the holes to see if anything was plugged, didn't look like it. Was wondering if anyone knew how to solve this problem or do you think that since I took the bleach dispenser out and put it back it that it might work for my next load ??
Any opinions will be greatly appreciated !! Thanks Much !!
Hello - There are several things that could cause the fabric softener to not dispense into the washer. Are you sure the liquid in the dispenser after the wash is fabric softener? If it is fabric softener, the solenoid that lets the water into the dispenser is not working. This solenoid is located on the back of the dispenser. It only gets voltage during the dispense time and fills the fabric softener dispenser with water. The fabric softener dispenser fills while the washer is filling for the rinse cycle.
When the washer begins to fill for the rinse cycle, the fabric softener solenoid is energized and water flows into the fabric softener dispenser cup. When the cup is full the water siphons out and softener and water flow into the tub.
If the liquid in the fabric softener dispenser is pure softener you may need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The voltage will have to be tested to the softener solenoid and a volt meter is required.
If the liquid in the fabric softener dispenser is water you probably need to clean the dispenser cup. **** will build up in the siphon tube and stop the liquid from going into the washer tub. The incoming water will dilute the softener and overflow the dispenser cup and run into the tub. The instructions for cleaning the dispenser should be located on page 43 of the use and care guide that came with the washer.
If you don't have the use and care guide these instructions will help. Open the dispenser until it stops. In the left rear corner of the dispenser, there is a release that is labeled push. Press down on the push area and you can slide the dispenser drawer out.
Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Clean the bottom of the insert and the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Reinstall the insert and put the drawer back inside the washer.
To test the siphon action slowly pour water into the fabric softener compartment. When the water level goes above the maximum line stop pouring. The water should all drain out.
Hope this information proves to be helpful however if it is ineffective please contact a professional to move forward accurately.
