Question about LG LRSC26980 Refrigerator
We just returned from a 3 week trip. I noticed that though the icemaker was full and everything was frozen, the upper food compartment was somewhat warmer than usual. We've purchased some groceries, and now its evident that the refrigerator compartment hardly works at all. Here's a couple of variables to the problem: 1. While we were gone, there was at least one power outage. 2. Our departure coincided with the installation of new central air ductwork about 4 feet from the LG. 3. I've gone from 4 to 6 on the touchpad controller for the fridge (last night). 4. This LG is less than a year old. 5. No air blows from the fridge compartment vent. 6. Fridge light works. To try to solve this myself, I vacuumed the vent in the back, which was pretty dusty, but seeing that its freezing fine. I'm at a loss, and ready to get to work with a BFH.
Try completely defrosting the unit (turn it off), then start it again and see what you get. Check that the ventilation around the outside - especially the back - is ok. If no luck from that then you should be able to get it fixed under warranty; http://us.lge.com/general/contact.jsp If your warranty is not valid for any reason, please ask again and we may be able to help, however the majority of things that might need to be done to a unit like this are illegal to perform unless you are qualified, and require quite expensive special tools. It is almost certainly fixable, and would certainly be cheaper than a new fridge. Hope this helps :)

I unplugged the unit and let it sit overnight with the doors open. This morning I was able to use a hair dryer to blow from the topmost vent in the fridge compartment and my son confirmed that he could feel warm air flowing into the freezer - so the vent appears to be open.
When I emptied the freezer, there was some minor ice crystals on the back wall, but not more than would be a half-cup of ice. And this morning, the towels that I left to pick up dripping moisture were dry. So, I do not believe that the vents were clogged with ice.
I plugged the unit in, and the freezer is starting to freeze, but the upper fridge compartment is still not getting cold at all.
Any more ideas?
Thanks,
