I normally just print with a black toner cartridge but now I need to print w/color also - I have tried 2 different color cartridges, have aligned the cartridges numerous times and cleaned the pinheads - the color still won't print. I changed to color under 'Printer Properties' - is there anywhere else I need to change to color? Do you know what else could be the problem?

If the Cartridge and printer alignment is successfull and you are still not able to print in color, mostly the Color print is disabled in your pc
Click on START Button
Click on CONTROL PANEL
Open Printers and Faxes folder
Highlight the Printer icon for Deskjet
Right click on the printer icon and choose Printing Preferences
Under Printing preferences, you will find Printing mode - It must be on BLACK or GREY SCALE, Change to COLOR/ ALL
try printing.
SOURCE: Won't print black, just color
1. Turn the unit on and open the lid or top cover.
2. Remove the cartridges.
3. Using a clean, dry lint-free cloth (a coffee filter works well),
wipe the cartridge contacts, from the top to the bottom. The contact
area of the cartridge should be rubbed briskly to remove the waxy
lubricant material from the gold contacts.
4. The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a
clean, dry, lint-free cloth, 5. gently wipe the contacts, from the
top to the bottom.
5. Re-insert the cartridges and close the printer's top cover.
Do not use refilled cartridge.
Thanks

To solve the
printing problem..
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the
bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the
cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead
horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure
the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the
carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not
installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the
contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and
wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than
one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap
them correctly into the printer.
Hope this help. Please
