I have 2 dell inspirons can i use the installation discs for both If I replace a harddrive on 1?

Is it set to run disc or hard drive 1st?
if reinstalling windows it needs to boot up from cd drive 1st and this will automatic copy to new garden drive, after that change bios to boot up from hard drive.

Going with Dell Inspiron i1200 series of Notebook PC;

Left-click on Harddrive in the list.

BEFORE removing Harddrive;
Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

Why are you removing the harddrive, may I ask?

To set you computer back to factory fresh settings you will need to format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and the drivers.
You will need your NEW Operating System disc or you will need to have the CD's that either you made when you got your computer or if your lucky you got the CD's that the factory furnished with the computer at the time you bought it.
If you do not have those CDs/DVDs then go the website of the computer manufacturer and search the website for "Recovery Discs", if they are not available
there you might locate them on Ebay.
1.Format the hard drive:
You do this by double left clicking on "My Computer",then double left click the main drive (normally C drive).
When the window pops open, you will choose "Format"
Keep in mind that once you format your hard drive you will loose all your files,programs,pictures,etc that you installed since the computer was new.
So make your back up on a portable hard drive,thumb drive,etc.
2. Once the formatting of the hard drive is complete you will need to reinstall the operating system along with the drivers.
Install the first disc and start the program.
That will bring your computer back to factory new condition as far as operating is concerned.

Have you check the BIOS if the harddrive is detected? You may want to use a working harddrive and check if harddrive cable is not loose or you can try to boot to a bootable disc just to isolate the issue.

you have a bad hard disk if under warranty call dell support,they show support in neighboring country's
congo,ethiopia,uganda, kenya as well as a middle east support,you should a 1 year hardware warranty
if it is to much trouble to send in hard drive is fairly inexpensive to replace run your recovery disc to get it back to new condition,there are just two screws underneath cover it slides out some have a caddy covering harddrive, install new

Go to the dell support website and download the driver for your network adapter.
Check your device manager for missing drivers, and download all that have yellow exclamation marks against them

No, you do not need to remove the harddrive just because you want to install memory in your computer, unless the harddrive is in the way for ,
memory changement.Usually harddrive is located in that way so the memory wont be near the sometimes hot harddrive.

hello, sounds like memory issue, I would say if you have more than one stick of memory in it remove one at a time and try it again.
also while you are at it reset BIOS by remove battery from motherboard and/or switching jumper setting.

Sounds like you need to restore your computer, you can do this many different ways, I suggest you backup all of your documents format your harddrive and reinstall your OS. you should have replacement discs. A fresh install usually will make it ruyn much better.
