Two things that usually gives this symptom. One, internal heat sensor will shut down projector if extreme heat is present, usually caused by dirty filters, fan failure, etc. Two, your bulb has reached its life end.

I work in a hotel for a conference center and have had the same problem. there is a setting in the projector that is a power saving option that turn your projector off after some time. I turn that to off and have not had any problem with that.

VPL-HS50 shuts down after few seconds

It must be a problem with electric connection. you should check whether it is OK or not. If it is okay, read instruction manual.

After lamp replacing on Sanyo PLC-XP46 the projector starts up and immediately shuts down. Lamp counter was reset.

Check the iris door, it opens and closes freely. If dust has clogged it up, it will not stay on. Also check the air filter and the fan, if they are dirty, it will shut down as well. If your manual does not show any diagrams of the unit, post a comment and I will look it up. Hope this helps.

Projector will only stay on for a couple of minutes then shuts off automatically. the LED turns from green to red

Make sure the venting for the cooling fan is clear and that it is activating. The only time I have seen this in a projector is when it overheats. If it reaches a certain temperature and doesn't sense the cooling fan being on it shuts down to protect the bulb and protect against fire hazard.

Lamp will not stay on more that a minute or so. Why? All of the fans are working and none of the vents are clogged but it is like a thermal switch shuts the lamp off.

if the projector is overheating, it will shut down. blow out the projector with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the fans are trying to expell. if it has shut down from heat to often, you'll need to replace the thermosensor. if you are not sure it's temp related, check the lamp for bulges and black spots. replace lamp if necessary.

Stays on for 5 minutes and then shuts down. No

the edge connector on the power supply that attaches it to the main board needs resoldering. you'll have to remove the top case and the main board to get to the power supply. use a soldering iron to resolder the fingers on the edge of the power supply. put it back together and it'll work fine.

My projector doesn't stay on. what's wrong?

either the lamp cannot strike (meaning a ballast or lamp issue) or there the fans are not up to speed to sufficientl;y cool down the lamp and therefore shut down to avoid damage.

Projector won't stay on

Most projectors have a filter that can be removed and cleaned. Perhaps it is clogged or you may need a new bulb.
