Although in theory, a manual toothbrush can clean the teeth effectively, most people do not spend the time needed to brush the teeth properly when they use a manual brush. For those people who do not make the effort required to use a manual toothbrush correctly, an electric toothbrush will be far more effective at keeping the teeth clean.

Here are some of the reasons why dentists recommend using an electric toothbrush instead of a manual toothbrush:

1. The mechanical action of an electric toothbrush will dislodge food particles better.
2. an electric toothbrush can clean more thoroughly between the teeth.
3. a sonic toothbrush can help prevent plaque build up below the gum line.
4. electric toothbrushes work more effectively for those who have arthritis.

Electric toothbrushes are an excellent tool to keep your teeth clean and healthy. They offer many advantages:

They allow you to remove plaque more efficiently and quicker than manual toothbrushes.

You don't need to brush hard in order to get good results. This means that you are much less likely to injure your gums.

People who suffer from physical conditions like arthritis find electric toothbrushes as a great replacement to manual toothbrushes because they are easier to grip and you don't need to use as much physical power to get your teeth cleaned (the powered brushes do the cleaning).

It is more fun to brush with electric toothbrushes compared to manual toothbrushes, especially for children.

What are the advantages of manual toothbrushes over electric toothbrushes?

The main advantage of manual toothbrushes is the cost. They are much cheaper than electric toothbrushes. Whereas an electric toothbrush can cost you $50-$100, manual toothbrushes can be bought for just a few bucks. Another advantage is that manual toothbrushes come in different sizes and colors, so there's a larger variety to choose from.

How often should I replace the head of my electric toothbrush?

According to the Oral-B website, you should replace the head of your electric toothbrush every 3 months. There are exceptions though. For example, if you suffer from gum problems, then you should replace your toothbrush head every 4-6 months. On the other hand, if you have very healthy gums and teeth and you are using a high quality electric toothbrush, you can probably use it for few extra months (around 6 months).

I have purchased a Braun proffessional care electric toothbrush and cannot charge it. I have tried three different plug adapters. I have changed the toothbrush at Boots 3 times. I have tried to charge it...

Your electrical socket may be wrongly wired, with polarity mixed up. Try another socket. Also, some electric toothbrushes need to be "off" to successfully charge. Maybe the flasing red light for 10 seconds is telling you the toothbrush is "on" and not accepting charge.
