In general, the higher the fat content, the lower the lactose, and vice versa; you may be able to tolerate whipped cream, but not skim milk, the worst offender. Some people can handle yogurt; the yogurt cultures may eat up the lactose. In addition, cooking the dairy product sometimes helps, as in the case of custard pudding. If you buy lactose treated milk, you must shake it before pouring each serving, being the lactase enzymes sink to the bottom of the container.

When you're lactose intolerant, you may cringe at the thought of eating dairy products.
But there's really no need. In this day and age, there are plenty of nutrient-rich dairy products you can enjoy, without suffering the all-too-familiar consequences. Those may be Yogurt, Aged cheeses, Low-fat dairy products in small amounts, Lactase-fortified dairy products, Dairy products eaten with a lactase pill, ..

You can still consume lactose-free milk, lactose-free chocolate milk and aged cheeses that contain a very low amount of lactose (like cheddar cheese).

I'M CURRENTLY AVOIDING DAIRY PRODUCTS AND WANT TO KNOW IF GOAT'S CHEESE AND FETA CAN BE USED INSTEAD ANDIF IT'S JUST AS GOOD ON PIZZA, LAZAGNE, FLATBREADS, ETC. AS THE USSUAL CHEESE. THANK'S. ANNAKIE

They are just as good in my opinion.
Keep in mind that these days (especially in the UK) there are lots more options for lactose free and even vegan products.

Every good supermarket has a "Free From section"

Arla do lactose free milk, cheese, yogurt, milkshakes and i believe even icecream.

I have used their cheese on pizza and pasta and its gone down well.

Are cats allowed milk?

"They" say that cats are lactose intolerant, but that's not entirely true. The fact is that homogenized and pasteurized milk has been treated and thus all the lactones within have been destroyed. Without these lactones some people and cats can no longer process the milk properly and display signs of lactose intolerance. Watering the milk down does nothing to help, raw milk is the only way to avoid these issues but the world made it illegal to sell raw milk because the mass production, storage, and distribution of the product was trying to sell us the idea that it is raw milk that caused disease outbreak many years ago, when it was the industrialized process itself that was to blame. I hope this helps you to better understand.
