What is wilderness rescue first aid all about

"Wilderness first aid" would be treatment specific to using materials and supplies available in remote areas A "rescue first aid" kit specific to kayaking should include a "space blanket", compass, several lengths of rope, waterproof matches, as well as bandages, ointment, elastic wrap, and other wound care products. First aid kits for camping, etc are available at sites like REI. Depending on where you plan on going, an emergency locator/cell phone/sat phone could be a good idea. During cold weather, chemical warm packs could come in handy. A good outfitter/kayak shop would be a great source of any information about specific supplies for a specific area.

Home made first aid kit you can take with you anywhere

You never know when you might need a first aid kit and having one that is small enough to fit in your pocket or a small bag never hurts. I travel with an Altoids tin full of essential first aid supplies. Take a few band-aids of various different sizes, gauze, an air tight plastic bag of Q-tips and cotton balls, sterile alcohol wipes, water proof tape and a small retractable knife. Fold them all up, snap the lid of the tin and you are ready for most daily first aid needs. If you have the space you an fit in some pain medication like Tylenol pills and some allergy medication.

Are there any items which should not be in a first aid kit because they are not safe or helpful?

Take a look at this Readers Digest article for some helpful tips about what not to use in first aid situations. http://www.rd.com/health/wellness/7-first-aid-standbys-you-should-never-use/

It is often recommended that medications are not kept in a first aid box because of the risk of allergies or misuse.

R. Hearing aid has died for the 5th time. Purchased through HearX.

RIC instruments are quite delicate, the receivers often fail, however it is a quick fix to replace them. Have you tried a drying kit, a drying kit is essential to maintain RIC or RITE instruments particularly during the summer months. Go back, get the receivers changed and ask for a drying kit.

I have Pure 700 RIC BTE HAs for 14 months now. I have had 8 repairs to date. Seems any perspiration ruins the amplifier. I keep them in a drier overnight. I paid a lot of money for them and they are " In...

It is a common problem, Siemens do seem to suffer it more though. Your audi should keep receivers on hand in order that he can fix it on the spot. Keep your ears clean and dry, clean and dry your aids every night. The use of a drying kit is ideal, but make sure you are changing your tablet enough or re-charging your crystals in the microwave, whichever it is.
