I want to download unix os for free how can i do this

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

you can find various unix linux OS on line, but if you aren't really computer savy, it may not be for you. They are "opensource" and gettin drivers for applications and the applications themselves may not suit your purposes unless you are a real geek. Go to slashdot.org, and see if that is what you really want to do.

Error 202 in setup wizard of linksys wusb54gc usb wireless adapter

it's not 1998 anymore, stop using windoze, or at least proprietary windows wizards.

try unix, mac os X. unix was the beginning of computer control and RTOS, and still is the best.

RTOS is real-time Operating System

or linux, however ubuntu kinda sux.

SUSe is about the best linux.
{it was used to make Android for google.

and if u don't wanna pay for os, and don't use torrents, or p2p, use openSuse. free download and use.
checkout opensuse.net or something like that.

UNIX suitable for biginers

I would like to humbly state, if you are completely new to Unix it may be in your advantage to start with a flavor of Linux.

Poseidon Linux is specifically geared towards the scientific community, and contains many applications and tools centered around those needs.

Here's a download link for Poseidon in English:
http://poseidon.linuxfreedom.com/

Scientific Linux, which is geared towards your ambitions is based of the Red Hat Distribution, which allows for easy installation via "Red Hat Package Management" or RPM.

Here's a link to Scientific Linux:
https://www.scientificlinux.org/

Should you feel that a true Unix experience is required, the choice of Unix would be up to you. The reason why you would have to choose a Distribution on your own is because mostly all Flavors of Unix do not come with mission-specific applications installed.

You can get Unix in both Open (Free) or Licensed.
Try this link for different flavors:
http://www.crucialp.com/resources/tutorials/dedicated-server/unix-flavors-flavours-distributions.php

Hope this information has been helpful.

What is the difference between unix and linux

UNIX is a operating system which has only command user interface, and if the unix is installed in the system you cant install any other operating system after that ... one separate system must be allocated for the unix ...

LINUX is the graphical user interface and it supports multiple operating system ..

UNIX and LINUX are almost same, almost all commands which supports in UNIX supports in LINUX too .. with some extended features just like GUI(GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE),SECURITY,MULTI USER,MULTI TASKING,etc

COMMAND USER INTERFACE - the input is made to the computer by using commands and the output is obtained by command or by printer ...

GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE- the input is provided to the computer through the other input devices like mouse, joystick etc
the input is provided either by command or by the just clicking the mouse on the particular icon ...

example for graphical user interface is windows,Macintosh etc ...

Unix installation

Do you want unix or Linux? Since you said linux, you need to know which flavor you want. SCO, and others, look on google for the different flavors.

I have ubuntu linux and I am writing you from it now. I love it, it's very nice working with Windows.

See this link for all the downloads.
See this link for using windows.

When you download and burn the Linux ubuntu, just run the disk in your windos and it will start to setup the dual boot and other things. Mine was EEEEASY!
