I have a user who uses a Joybook 5000u.
Today he's suffering a constant restart from, what sounds like, the BIOS screen. He says that he starts it up like normal, it gets to the Joybook logo and then restarts.
I've talked him through the Battery out, mains in and mains out battery in elimination process - to no avail.
Do you think this could be a dead CMOS battery? Or maybe a loose RAM board?
Thanks in advance
The cmos battery will not cause the computer to do this. If you think it it could be loose ram try removing the ram and booting then replace the ram and power up again. Or follow the link below for a suggestion that includes a guitar pic

Tap F8 when booting up and choose the last known good configuration before having him open it up. This should solve the problem. How old is the computer?
Please remember to rate me.
Thanks

Thanks guys.
We tried to get into Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration but no good. I also talked him through the RAM changing etc and tried various configurations and still nothing.
Last ditch attempt is to try booting from another disk and see if it is the hard disk in the Joybook.
It's a good 3+ years old. And still takling the tasks.
