Phillips home theater system that is popping during start up. I would like to see if someone could elaborate on how to replace the two resistors inside the subwoofer.

Though I have not seen the subwoofer, it is unlikely that the resistors need replacing unless they are shorted or open. Do you have a meter to measure them with?

Sometimes, in cases such as this, it is best to have a power distribution unit that turns components on or off in a certain sequence. That will eliminate the popping.

I have a JBL subwoofer SUB135. When I turn it on it makes a popping noice. I am not sure what the problem is. It was recently moved when we put in hardword floors. What could be the problem, and how...

Are you sure this is new? That's a pretty common (granted annoying) trait of subwoofers. If it just makes a pop and then works fine, it's probably normal and caused by the capacitors in the power supply. If you're positive it's new, then you'll need a technician to look at the power supply. Did you change the wiring? Often subwoofers are "on" all the time and have a connection to trigger them when the reciever is turned on. That might reduce the pop rather than turning the power on and off every time...

Popping sound comes out of the subwoofer when turned on

I'm assuming this is a Powered Subwoofer? If so, the amplifier in the subwoofer is damaged. For more information, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Wharfdale sw150 subwoofer ticks then pops

It should go into standby mode when you shut the rest of your system down. The led on the back is supposed to be green when in use and red when on standby. I believe yours should have the "auto on" switch on the back. If you are manually shutting the sub off make sure it is the 1st thing you power down. It should not pop then. As much volume as it puts out you could damage the speaker if you do anything to cause a pop. If it pops while watching a movie or with music, check connections. I believe the manual says left input is the recommended one.

Power lapse/popping sound

The soldering to the wires can go bad. Making the unit turn on and off. The vibrations of the subwoofer over time will cause them to work free. Then when in operation they will cause them to break contact again.

Subwoofer thumping when turn on

Your subwoofer is not getting enough power, or it is grounding out due to a bad connection. What is powering the subwoofer? You might want to consider buying an AC to DC power inverter and a car amplifier to power your subwoofer. You connect the AC/DC inverter to your amp the same way you would in your car (+) to (+) and (-) to (-). The only other thing you will have to do is run the remote wire to the (+) on the amp. You can buy the AC/DC inverter at radioshack for $49.99, and all you really would need is a 200watt max amplifier and that would cost you about $10-$20.00 for a cheap one.
