Have been using a new g1 for the past month. The phone stopped working and so I tried rebooting by removing the battery and replacing. The phone turned on but the with little charge. I then charged it overnight and thought everything was fine. However, I noticed I wasn't getting any calls but then I would checked I there would be voice mail. I checked the ring volume and it's not highest level. The phone vibrates with incoming calls but there's no ring tone. I can call out but the speaker phone doesn't work. I tried changing ring tones and can't hear anything. Is it possible that I somehow turned off the speaker or am I looking at a broken phone?
My speaker stopped working out of nowhere also. i just had my g1 replaced the month before...that g1's sim slot stopped working...now this g1's speaker isn't working...what's up with that? well, i have insurance so guess i'll be getting a second replacement g1...good luck g1 users, hope u have insurance

Talking on the phone with a bluetooth headset and self-rebooted. Playing abduction and crashed. Self-reboot constantly at the X screen Took battery out for 15 second, and tried again, same thing. Did it a second time to fix it. - reading google.com/reader and crashed. Self-reboot constantly at the X screen Took battery out for 15 second, and tried again, same thing. Did it a second time to fix it. Did a factory reset to see if it helps. During market downloads of apps, crashed again and rebooted
Phone used edge more than 3g lately in the past few days. After factory reset, using 3g again. Had the phone for 3 weeks, so the tech support guy said I can only get it repaired or replaced by a refurb unit...Sounds like a bad deal to me... and to make it even worst, I bought the google dev g1 a few months ago before this...$1k down the drain...
a lot of the system volumes were put back to default. I only realized
this when I downloaded the "Audio Manager Widget". Then I found that I
apparently missed a couple volume settings.
also It might be due to the In-Call volume. The only time you can adjust the In-Call
volume is when you're in a call (duh!). So, I called my voicemail and
put it on speakerphone
just left it all the way up and now I can hear the dialpad tones again!
also I think it was swapping from vibrate to full volume when I received an SMS (or was doing multiple things at once).
All sound stopped working on the device. It's an Dream from Optus.
try a quick reboot.. that shud fix all the problems though
if all the above moethod fails... its time to call the manufacturer....
