No sound_RCA_model L23W10_Only Ear Phone Jack Provides Sound

Have hooked up to cable only (no VCR, DVD or Computer hookup, as yet) and get great picture, but no SOUND. Only sound I can get out of this monster is when I plug headset into earphone jack and toggle on headset in the menu. Is my HDTV a bad set or am I overlooking something very obvious.

Many Thanx for any help.

Hello... I found the following in the user manual for this TV. Also, some RCA models have a speaker switch on the back of the TV. If none of this solves the problem, your TV may need service. I hope this helps...

Sound problems, picture okay
• Maybe the sound is muted. Try pressing the volume up button to restore sound.
• If using S-Video or Y Pb Pr, remember to also connect the component's left and right audio output jacks to the TV's AUDIO jacks.
• Make sure the Volume option in the Sound menu is turned up.
• Make sure headphones aren't connected to the headphones jack.

SOURCE: HDMI Cable - No Sound L42WD22 RCA Flat Panel TV

No sound and a digital picture. i will assume you have no signal on analog rf cable. Thomson(RCA) have been having problem with these sets. The trouble stems from the digital cuircit board. We see alot of these. You used to get the digital board.. they are not availble.. so rca found the component on these that fail.. A VERY SMALL surface mounted fuse. With a lighted magnifer and some fine tip twezzers. we replace these fuses on these boards. Do you have any soldering experence..

SOURCE: on/off

My RCA did the same thing just after the warranty ran out. I was told by a friend that it could be the switch on the tv that needs replacing, so he will be looking at it, and I'll let you know if that may be the case.

SOURCE: no sound and picture not full screen when connected to pc

if you have your tv connected to your pc with a vga cable, you will not get sound, since the vga does not carry sounds, only pictures. to change the settings on your pc to make full you will have to change your resolution size on your pc in your control panel

Element tv code direct tv

Not following... This is what I think you may be saying: You can't get the TV to use the RCA input?

The reason for my confusion is "rca surround sound". RCA will only carry left and right channel (stereo). It can't push surround sound unless it's setup as a direct input [typically an 8 channel input, where you would have 8 RCA cables (or 4 pair) connected].
The headphone jack, if using a 4-pin headphone jack (it has 4 sections of metal, vs a 3-pin, which only has 3 sections of metal), may be able to send something closer to surround sound, but it wouldn't be a true surround sound. You would need to use fiber optic, HDMI, DVI, or digital coax cable.

The sound settings in the OS on the computer need to be set to push the surround sound, or it will only push stereo. You'll probably need to spend some time there testing all the setting options.

Coaxial hookup broke off. Can i use an s cable through vcr? need instructions.

If your Sharp television has RCA jacks, you may use them through your VCR. Your VCR would have to have a tuner and then you may use this as a means for getting a signal. Newer VCRs and DVD players generally do not have a tuner. Thanks for asking!

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 933 HD TV that we are using for a video hookup. We have plugged the white and red RCA jack into the back but did not get a picture. Does this TV have to be on a certain channel...

The white and red wires are for sound only, you will need to connect a video source, usually a yellow wire.

What is your video source? dvd, computer, vcr, cable

Write back and i will help more

There has got to be a way

I have this model..was trying to hook it up to a directv hughes receiver. After a day of trying and many curse words I found that using this hookup works . Hook up your satellite connection to you tv as usual...Now plug rca cables(red, yellow white) into the corresponding holes on the BACK of the Directv receiver ..now plug the rca cables into the FRONT of the Magnavox player...you will only use find holes for the white and yellow(that's ok) Now hook up up the dvd player to the tv using the rca connection back of dvd/vcr player..or if your tv only has a coax connection you will need a rf modulator available at walmart etc. You will run the dvd/vcr on L2. The key is the connections to the FRONT of the dvd/vcr player..I hope this helps..:)

Adding vcr & rec to a '93

Hello,
Please hook up VCR with TV through RF cable and check picture of VCR playback in TV.

Now you can hook DVD player video-audio out in VCR input and can have dvd playback picture in TV via VCR modulator.

If you want to listen sound via receiver then hook audio red-white cable between VCR audio out and receiver audio in terminals.

Let me know exact model numbers of units to help you out more.
Thank you.

Have sound,no picture

Do you have it hooked up using the component cables?(red, blue, green cables?) You need to use the component cables to use the progressive scan feature. So if you have it hooked up using the yellow rca jack, you will have to switch cables.

Hookup

very simple , just made sure dvd output hooked to the input of your tvs and same color ,jack to jack, you know, yellow to yellow, red to red ,white to white. But I suggest you use a s-video jack(all black). instead of the yellow composite ,or RCA jack, which give you a better picture, and if you have a the component jacks (red, blue , green)on both machine , that will give you the best picture, but remember , you still have to connect the red(right channel,+))and white(left channel,-)cable to have sound coming out from your tv.You will need a s-video cable or component cables for those option I suggested.
