After re-installing windows XP with cd send from dell.. no sound

I re-installed Xp from the windows cofiguration CD and wne through all the steps.. then i installed the drivers/utilities CD.. after all of that my sound would not work, not even my mute and volume buttons on the front of my inspiron E1505 dont even work... when i pull up my sound and audio devices, my audio section says no audio device, when i installed all the correct audio devices from the driver utilities CD..
When i click hardware i have many devices in my hardware but my IDT high definition audio CODEC looks to be fine but it says its enables but has problems.. when i pull up my system maneger, all my other sounds drives are fine but there is a cautionary sign on my IDT high definition aidio CODEC.. when i try to put the utilities CD in and trouble shoot or repair it will not correct the sound issue.. so what do i do know.. ive even tried doing a windows update several times and still nothing... so this is my last resort b4 i completely wipe my pc and reinstall XP again... so i hope i can get some good feedback on what to do... and is there an order in which i am supposed to install my drivers.. i just went down the list and installed everything that was checked for instllation!!! thanks and i hope to hear from someone!! shawn adams

I'm having that problem as well, except it happened out of nowhere, I haven't made any recent changes on my pc. I've tried reinstalling drivers and even re-installing windows. I'm about to throw this thing out the window and run it over with my truck!

We need reinstall xp dell optiflex 210 l

You will either need the dell restore CD or Windows XP CD.

To perform a clean installation of Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Back up all important information before you perform a clean installation of Windows XP. Save the backup to an external location, such as a CD or external hard disk.
  2. Start your computer from the Windows XP CD. To do this, insert the Windows XP CD into your CD drive or DVD drive, and then restart your computer.

Note To boot from your Windows XP CD, the BIOS settings on your computer must be configured to do this.
  3. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press any key to start the computer from the Windows XP CD.
  4. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to start Windows XP Setup.
  5. Read the Microsoft Software License Terms, and then press F8.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format a partition where you want to install Windows XP.
  7. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Windows XP Setup.

I was looking for step-by-step install guide to putting new hard drive and loading Windows XP on my Dell Inspiron E1505?? I purchased a WD 320GB SATA hard drive to replace my dead 80gb hard drive....Dell...

All you've got to do is:

1) Insert the new hard drive.
2) Press the F8 key as the laptop boots. This will take you into the BIOS.
3) Locate the disk drive priority setting in the bios.
4) Set Priority 1 to your CD/DVD drive and priority 2 to the 320GB hard drive.
5) Save settings and exit the BIOS. This should reboot your laptop.
6) Insert the Windows XP CD.
7) It should not start the setup as it recognises the CD.
8) I will recommend that you format the drive before you install, go along with the format (make sure it does a full format).
9) After the format it will reboot your system.
10) You will be prompted with a message like "Press any key to boot form CD", DON'T press anything otherwise it will start all over again.
11) Now it should start the install. Follow the on-screen instructions.

When I restart my computer and after I enter my

Probably your system has been corrupted, or you have installed a software that caused your system not to function due to conflicts.

The solution that i find to solve your problem is to perform windows xp repair install, which will replace corrupted files on your system in order for you system to run properly.

Follow these step by step solution on how to perform the Windows XP Repair Install.

You should first check if you have these on your system.
1. A CD/DVD Drive.
2. A bootable Windows XP Install disk, depends on the version of your Windows XP , whether it be SP3 or SP2.
3.Idea on how to boot to your BIOS settings, you can check it using your systems manual or you should see a press button (e.g "Press F2 to SETUP").

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step by step solution on performing Windows XP Repair Install.
1. Insert the Windows XP installer on your CD/DVD Drive.
2. Restart your system.
3. Go to your BIOS Settings and set your CD/DVD drive boot priority. We will be booting to your Windows XP Install disk to perform reinstall on your system.

* Reinstalling doesnt affect your programs, but will just delete the previous windows xp system files and replace it with a new one.

4. When you are now in the Windows XP Install screen where you can select if you want to install windows xp, go to windows repair console or exit the installation. You should select "to Setup windows XP now press Enter".

Heres the screenshot as a guide.

Press Enter, then when you see Searching for previous windows installation, you should select "R" to repair your installation, if you dont see any "searching for previous windows installation message" then you should check your bios settings.

After the reboot, you should set back again your BIOS to boot from your hard drive. restart your system, also you should prepare a valid windows xp cd key for that because you will be needing it confirm the setup process of your system.

After the reinstallation process, you can now boot your windows xp system nice and clean. :)

Missing or corrupt hal.dll file, so can't boot the hard drive

Hey,

Please use the recovery discs or windows installation cd.

To either perform a full system restore with the recovery discs.
Or to perform a repair installation with the windows installation cd.

Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:
To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
Press Enter to start the Windows Setup. do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup.
Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

Thanks and good luck.
