1997 Chevy Pick up Single disc player won't work

I just bought a 97 Chevy pick up with the factory radio/cassette with single remote cd. When I put a cd in the player acts like it is trying to read the disc, then "error" message appears on the player sceen and the disc is ejected. Any help would be apeciated!

Have you tried different CDs?

If the cd is ok, the read head on the cd player is probably covered in grunge! Get thee to ye olde local audio / TV shop and purchase a CD head cleaning kit.
Usually these come with a cd with a brush attached to it and some cleaning fluid.
Follow the instructions on the packaging and give your music cd another try.

Yes it is possible to put a single din radio in this car. Simplest way is to go on Ebay and order a single din radio fill-in kit and a factory radio wiring plug adaptor for the vehicle. Make sure you order it for the exact year make and model to be sure you have the right installation setup.

I bought one on ebay and it is in excelent shape however the cd player doesn't recognizes disc. I opened the unit and it seems to be working ok but says "no disc" any tips? Henry

All you can do is clean the lens and if that does not do it at this point Russ at New Jersey Factory Service has said they don't support that model anymore.

CD player won't work

Firstly is it burnt or factory cd? Most factory cd players won't play a burnt disk.
If you have a store-made cd and it is not reading that, then the lens inside the player is dirty and needs to be blown out with a can of "airduster"
