SOURCE: Charging Batteries

This could happen if the batteries have been recently used, and are "hot". Chargers use one, or a combination of, "end of charge" detectors. Either it's timed, detects a slight drop in voltage, or senses temperature. Try waiting 30 minutes to an hour after use before charging. Also, be sure the ambient temperature is within parameters. Too hot or cold (we live up north...gets cold in the garage) will affect the charger.

SOURCE: My 15 min. Duracell charger keeps blinking-won't work...

When the duracell lights blink during charging, AT YOUR OWN RISK, try a reverse charge. Instead charging positive to positive and negative to negative, try positive to negative and negative to positive. I did this for 2 minutes. This solved the problem. After the 2 minutes, I gave the batteries a normal charge. You will have to force the battery and charger contacts to touch.

Why is the green light blinking on the Ryobi charger with the battery in it

My Ryobi 18V One+ charger blinks green while it's charging. When the battery is fully charged, the LED goes to a solid green. However, one battery recently had a faulty cell. After several hours on the charger, the green and red LEDs both were blinking. That indicated that the battery failed late in the charging sequence. It didn't fail the initial testing by the charger. The other battery I charged that day charged fine.

The extended capacity batteries can take 12 hours to charge in my experience. The regular batteries take less time. The charge time will depend on the battery chemistry(The older NiCd batteries take longer to charge then the Lithium batteries.)

I hope this helps. Assuming you aren't dealing with a cold or hot battery or charging environment, if you have any suspicion about a faulty battery, replace it.

Cindy Wells
(Note: I have a 12V drill as well. Those batteries takes longer to charge for the same relative capacity than the 18V NiCd batteries.)

I have a Lincoln 14.4-18v charger that showing a hot-cold pack delay. I have two batteries that haven't been used in a few days and the code comes up on both.

Insert batteries in and out of charger quickly several times to help make better contact, its worked for me in the past. seems like contacts get dirty and this gets them shinning again.

Battery won't charge. Light pattern on the charger is " ._._._. Is this battery bad.

What is the residual voltage on your battery, if it is too low, charger will not engage. If the voltage is below the threshold allowed, simply jolt the Nickel Cadmium battery with a car charger to bring it up, then install on charger.

My charger displayed cold/hot pack delay during charging

This is indicating the battery is too hot to charge, usually after coming off the tool right after some hard work. During the charging process the battey heats up so if you charge a hot battery, thereby making it hotter, you shorten the lifespan of the battery considerably. If you are getting a hot/cold pack delay indication on the charger, it should automatically start charging once the battery has cooled down sufficently.

HELLO: OUR MILWAUKEE 48-59-2401 BATTERY CHARGER IS NOT CHARGING OUR 48-11-2401 BATTERY PACKS. WHEN YOU RUN THE PACK DOWN TO 1 OR 2 LIGHTS & PUT IT IN THE CHARGER BOTH RED & GREEN LIGHTS FLASH....

If both lights are flashing after you put a cool battery on the charger, the battery is bad. It could have a bad, worn or shorted cell or other problems inside and the charge will not charge it as long as it reads it as a bad battery. Rechargable batteries do have a finite life determined mainly by how many times you recharge them.

I can't find the charging manual and I am intuiting from the drawings that if it has a steady flashing red it means it's charging, but I would like to read the instructions.

Operator's manual for DW926K-2 is here. It doesn't specifically address solid red light, but that's what mine does when I first put it on, so solid red indicates that it is charging.

If it is flashing the red light with two fast blinks followed by a
pause. This means the power source has out of spec for the charger (such as a generator not producing electricity at 60Hz).

If the red light flashes long, then short, you're in Hot/Cold Pack Delay mode which means it won't charge the battery until its temperature has stabilized.

I hope this helps! If so, please vote. Thanks.

Dewalt battery charger won't charge

As you know, solid red on your charger means that the battery is fully charged and the BLINKING red light means the battery is charging. Unless the light is blinking irradically everything is working the way it is supposed to. If the light is blinking irradically, the battery may just be too hot or too cold to charge ( like when you are driving many lags and your battery dies) and in this case simply wait 15 minutes to charge. If you get a fast blinking light still, the problem probably is with the battery.
