Problem with compaq MV 520 monitor

I am pluging in a compaq mv520 monitor into a hp 533w computer. I have never used this monitor with this computer before. When I turn it on and the computer is powering up I see the windows xp screen then the screen goes to a screen that has 3 things across the top out off range under that it has H31-54 KHZ V 50-99HZ then is asks PCdisplay settings correct? I have pushed different buttons on the monotor and I get no response. and after a few seconds the monitor act like it is in sleep mode and the light blinks orange. Can you help me or did I just get a bad monitor? Thanks

Your monitor is operating normally. After Windows starts it is setting the video resolution to something outside of the monitor's range. That's why you see the Windows splash screen, then the message from the monitor about the settings. Most likely the computer was used before with a monitor that had a wider range of resolutions available.

Restart the computer. When the manufacturer's logo screen appears, press the F8 key three or four times. This should get you a startup menu screen. Pick the option of starting in VGA mode, and Windows will start with video settings that your monitor supports.

I have a dell desktop with wireless connection, there is also a wireless router connected to the dell to send a wireless connection to a laptop in the household. in a bedroom in the house is a compaq...

As you mentioned, your Compaq Presario MV520 is using Windows 98 OS. As we all know, dial-up connection is the only available internet connection at that time so obviously Win 98 has dial-up LAN connection. However, you wanted to have wireless connection on that PC so you need to install a wireless adapter to that PC. First of all, most wireless adapters that are being used for desktop PC are wireless USB adapter, so you need to have a USB port on that PC. And also, you will need to check if the software for the wireless adapter will be accepted by the PC because since the PC is using Win 98 OS, we are not sure if the firmware of the wireless adapter will be compatible to the PC. Basically, my answer would be not possible.

I have A Compaq monitor,edited

omg an antique monitor
a relic CRT monitor?????really?
is it really MV320????or a typo.
MV500s are CRT (heavy cathode RAY TUBES)
you model is rare now, no photos of it by you.so...
if not a CRT pig.
then it must be a flat screen monitor
the first ones, up to year 2010 used crapppy
CCFL back lamp tubes that are bad now. all are.
(unless never used)
call CCFL fail these ways.
dim.
white now yellow
dead.
blinks, or is intermittent,or strobes.l

the backlamps CCLF tubes are dead. all do that, or just die .
crt monitors
are junk and a fire hazard, trash it.

CRT fails more ways
sure dim,sure dead.
but it has 3 guns , RGB , red green blue.
the red gun loves to go weak first , red phosphors
are weak (a physics deal)
one trick (long long ago is to up the red gun levels, to compensate.
or lower Green/blue guns.
gun means "electron gun" deep inside the CRT neck

The CRT has even more bad effects, failed.
a huge endless list , if you want.we have it.

My monitor hp compaq mv 7500 17 i am not able to turn it on or off

My guess is that the ON/OFF switch is broken.

It's time to responsibly recycle your old CRT monitor, and buy a new LCD monitor.

Sir Help me with my Compaq monitor MV520 it won't turn the power led flashing orange to green continously

it could be th epower supply and it could be the monitor.
power ON button should not flash orange regardless what you do. it should stay green. then orange. not orange to green to orange.
try the monitor on another PC if you can fine one.
the other thing is are the 2 monitor similar (CRT to CRT and LCD to LCD), you can't mix the the two, they will work but need different video driver to function correctly.
