Unable to unlock maps for garmin nuvi 200 I am having trouble getting new stuff on my Garmin Nuvi 200. I registered it thinking it would let me download mapsource and it didnt. So then I got a pirated copy, and it says I need a garmin product on the computer. Well, the 200 comes with NO software what so ever. I need to get some Euro maps on there for a trip!

    well that would be easy, and very expensive. I paid $68 for my Nuvi, which is the only reason I got it. I can not afford 3 times the cost of the machine for some maps. I am a poor college student. One day I will have a real job, and have lots of money, and I will not have to take the cheap way out, but until then I will do my best to be cheap

Here's a thought: instead of trying to install pirated maps which don't/won't work on your unit, how about actually buying the maps which are guaranteed to work. You will get a free copy of Mapsource on the disk with the maps of Europe.

    Thankyou for the "Inappropriate" rating because I told you to buy legitimate maps instead of trying to use pirated software which will not work. Somehow that doesn't surprise me. We are not here to help you install stolen software.

Garmin nuvi 200 ,I wiped all the software off my nuvi 200 if anyone has a backup a garmin 200, could I have a copy please. thanks Daniel-husse
If its a registered unit, you can go to Garmin.com and get it free.
It would not give you updated maps for free though (unless you bought the lifetime maps)

I have a Garmin Nuvi 250 and I am having trouble with its software. I have rebooted the device and reinstalled the original software. It keeps coming up with 'No detailed maps found that support routing....
Press tools, then press settings, then press map. The map name should be shown with a tick beside it. If it's not ticked press the map name to tick it. Then it should be ok.

The only other reason you should have this problem is if the map is locked. You can unlock it by going to www.garmin.com. Click on My Garmin, if you've already registered the sat nav. Click on maps and you'll get your unlock code there. If you haven't already registered it you'll need to do so now to get into My Garmin.

How do i update my garmen nuvi 200? where do i get the maps
I can help you update your Garmin Nuvi 200W.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

Unable to unlock new maps
Where did you download the Australian maps from? If from Garmin, contact Garmin for the unlock code. Maps have to be unlocked to a specific unit.

If you downloaded the maps from the internet, you will still need to contact Garmin for an unlock code.

I have a Garmin too..Nuvi 200 And it is up to date thanks to www.garmin.com....Connect the nuvi to computer go to website and redownload software for garmin(not maps) .and after try to activate the maps....If it isn't work try to check if it is a problem with that map...but I think it is software
