If the xbox is hooked up with ethernet cable then make sure all settings are set to automatic. If your xbox is hooked up with a wireless device that is set up to router then, make sure all your mac addresses are correct and mae sure you set your IP's and DNS codes.

I just got this new x box 360 to replace the older version x box, but i am not able to connect to x box live, the wep key is correct, but it still says there is a problem and it will not connect. I have...

Likely is not an issue with your Xbox 360 but instead an issue with your router being able to communicate with the Xbox 360. I had a similar issue. (eventually I was not able to use a wep key as my router was not syncing up with any of my devices proeperly with the wep key. I factory reset my router and instead closed my router to allow only specific mac ids to allow access instead of using the wep function)

If you are in control of your router then attempt (for testing only) to open your router so that it does not require a security wep code. If you are able to connect your Xbox 360 via this route then you know that it is an issue with the router trying to communicate via wep key use.

Also, try connecting via lan line and making sure that your router is able to work with your Xbox 360. Eliminate all scenarios before you take back your Xbox 360 or any other device when dealing with routers. Likely culprit is not the device but the way the router is trying to communicate with the device.

I have a wireless router hooked to my computer & my son recently got a wireless-G USB adapter so that he can play his xbox 360 online. Will this work, or will we have to put the router on the xbox...

XBOX 360 will only work properly with a 'genuine' USB WIFI adapter designed specifically for it (and at an over inflated price IMO!).
One popular way to play 'network' via the internet is to connect the XBOX 360 to your PC via Ethernet cable and have the PC connecting to the internet either via another ethernet connection or more likely via a Wifi connection which could be via your USB adapter connected to your PC and talking to your Wifi Router)

Xbox won't connect to Internet via router

Try installing the wireless router setup.exe once again. Do unistall the old file before installing the new one.
This should work for you .

I cant connect my xbox360 or my printer to my cable router

Are you connecting the Xbox via wireless?
Try changing the router wireless authentication to WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption.
XBox and PSP have problems with WEP.

I have zyxel nbg334w bought before xmas 08 can connect pc to internet with it but although wireless laptops and games consoles find it still wont connect i am connected to internet via virgin media...

Had the same problem connecting zyxel NGB334W to XBox 360. Other computers and devices would see the SSID but the XBox 360 would not. I had no luck talking to the techs at zyxel, they said it was incompatible with the wireless XBox device. Good news!!! This can be resolved. I went into the setup (192.168.1.1) / Wireless Lan / Advanced / Wireless Advanced Setup. Under the 802.11 mode set to 802.11b. Factory is 802.11b/g and this was not seen. Hope this helps you out.

MTU fail

ok well I found a fix but it may not be simple. anyway, i got my xbox360 to work off of my girlfriends laptop by feeding internet to the laptop from the cable modem via usb and then from the laptop to the xbox360 via ethernet. just right click usb connection in network connections and click sharing tab, then activate sharing and tell it to share connection with lan connection... you can also share through wireless if your xbox is wireless. I tried running all this through a dsl wireless router and a basic hub and both of them gave ip address and mtu errors... good luck
