XL1800 IS 9 YEARS OLD AND JUST STOPPED HEATING FOOD TONIGHT. IT IS CLEANED EVERYDAY AND WELL MAINTAINED. EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT THE FACT THAT THE FOOD IS NOT BEING "NUKED" HELP!! THANKS
If the magnetron was making louder noises prior then replace the magnetron. While the cabinet is open make sure to look for burned wires, check the continuity of thermal cutoffs, and check the main circuit-board for burned traces or components. The relays in most electronics are known for arcing (spot welding) and staying in the wrong position. Tap them hard with the back end of a screwdriver.
You may have to replace the capacitor as well. During all of this use safe electrical practices by having the power cord unplugged. The capacitor could still have a high charge on it so be careful.

I assume you're talking about the hood fan which ventilates the cook top and blows air through the grille across the top. If so, it's okay to use the microwave with that not working, but if you boil something on the stove, an external fan is definitely needed to keep mositure from going up into the microwave controls. If the cooling fan INSIDE the microwave (behind the keypad) is not working, then you do NOT want to run it unit it is fixed. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

PROBLEM MAY BE A RELAY ON THE CONTROL BOARD OR MAY BE A LOOSE WIRE FROM THE HV TRANSFORMER CKT.
SOURCE: GEJE2160 Stop Working
It probably blew the main power fuse in side the oven. This may have happen because of a failure in the microwave or a line voltage surge or what ever. Repalce the fuse and see if it work. be sure to unplug it before doing this, If this does not fix it then you have a failure in the oven some were.
good luck

Sounds like you've had a failure in the microwave portion of the unit.
Microwave not heating problems when the timer/controller board appears to function properly, are related to the following components -
1) Diode
2) Capacitor
3) Transformer
4) Magnetron

I did more research along with the suggestion of an apprentice to have person to fix the microwave. I was unable to fix it myself. The microwave needs a magnetron .
