Scan potter Wont recognize scanner

your printer probably has a software to install.

this software has the mode to scanner and to scan. the pc has a printer connection right? and.... how to scan should be on the software for the printer. it recognizes the printer and it's looking for a scanner, this is why is telling you scanner connection under the scanner connections but if the use is with the printer as a scanner, it must've a software. maybe the printer a scanner button so the pc recognizes it as scanner.

Check the rear right hand side of the scanner and make sure the scan head is not in the locked position. This is used to lock the scanner head during transport without damaging the scanning head.

If this is not the case, have you load the driver for the unit and did you check Windows Control Panel - Scanners/Cameras to verify it is there and recognized by the system. If not there you have a communication problem, if it is there, test it from there.

First you have to load the scanner (twain driver). Then load the scanning software. Then plug the printer/scanner into the usb port on the pc. The pc should then recognize the scanner. You might have to turn your pc off then on again to recognize the scanner. Then try to open the scanning software on your pc and put the document on the scanning glass and press the aquire/scan button on the software. Hopefully, that should work.

You need to install it's drivers. You can find it driver on www.support.hp.com

YOUR TECHNICIAN WOLKED ME THROUGH A SOLUTION THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY.  (REINSTALLING THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE)  I WAS ABLE TO SCAN 1 IMMAGE, BUT COULD NOT SCAN ANOTHER.

I have the same problem (on XP, Nikon Scan 3.1.2) ... IF I turn the scanner on before the computer (or turn the scanner on and then reboot) then Nikon Scan recognizes it. Can't say I'm happy with the solution, but it works consistently for me.

The current software is 1.0.3. It does work with this scanner and XP.

You should install the drivers after removing the existing driver and software. Do not hook up the scanner until the drivers have been installed.

It might not show up under the Cameras and Scanners section in Control Panel but it will still work.

When you open Elements make sure your scanner is on with the door closed. Go down to where you import and look for the scanner to be listed. It will take a minute or two to go through its calibration routine and then you should be able to scan with it.
