Safari is a web browser designed by Apple that is available for both PCs and Macs. It is known for its fast speeds, but unfortunately after time it can slow down. Pages won't load or will time out, regardless of how strong your network connection is or your PC's overall speed. Luckily, you can bring Safari back up to speed by resetting it.

Open Safari. Click on the "Tools" button, which resembles a gear, on the top right side of the screen. A menu will appear. Click "Reset Safari." A box will appear asking what you want to clear. Make sure every box is checked. Click "Reset." This will clear all the information Safari has been saving, which is what slows it down. You might have some unwanted browsers Create the menu tab on your homepage right click in the top toolbar you should see a number of toolbar options select the menu tab which will add File Edit View Favorites Tools and Help Click on the tools at the bottom of the drop down list Managed add ons Toolbar extensions Search providers and Accelerators you have if don't need any of them you can disable or remove them

You might have to many programs trying to or accessing your computer or the internet at the same time or a virus Scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager applications and processes to see you whats running and ticking over if you see anything you dont need running select end now and you might uninstall that specific program if you or computer does not require it to run and some unnecessary programs that could be jamming up your computer also under processes see what is ticking over in the background again if you see something you don't need to be running select end now and users you will see who is using your computer

I have a MacBook Air, OS X, using Safari. I have been away from Macs for 10 years and just bought the laptop, so trying to reintroduce myself. I can't find where to turn off the pop up blocker for certain...

Block pop-ups on webpages

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Security.
  3. Turn on "Block pop-up windows."

Blocking pop-up windows stops only those windows that appear when you open or close a page. It does not block pop-up windows that open when you click a link.

If you block pop-up windows, you might miss important information for a webpage. For example, a website that provides services to you might use a pop-up window to request your user name.

Block unnecessary webpage content

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click Security.
  3. In the "Web content" section, select or deselect types of content you want to block or enable. For an explanation of the options, click the Help button (looks like a question mark).

How to solve safari slow script error

This error prompt is easily remedied, however, you'll need to access the Safari Debug Menu to do so. If the Debug Menu is activated, click on it in the Menu Bar and uncheck "enable runaway JavaScript timer. That ought to solve this problem.

If the Debug menu is not activated, follow these instructions:

Quit Safari
Open Terminal.app in your Utilities folder,
When the Terminal window opens, copy & paste the following command into the window:

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

Click on the return key, you may be prompted for an admin password. If so, enter it.
Press "return".
When you see your Mac's name, it's done,
Quit Terminal
Restart Safari and go to the Debug Menu, following the suggestion above.

I need to reinstall Safari for XP. I deleted (uninstalled Safari this morning and now need to reinstall it.

To Download Safari:
1) Go to http://www.apple.com/safari/
2) Click "Safari 5 Free Download"
3) Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Keep me up to date... etc."
4) Be sure the button labeled "Safari 5.0.4 for Windows XP, Vista or 7" is selected
5) Click the blue button labeled "Download Now"
6) On the popup window, click the button labeled "Save"
7) Navigate to your desktop in the new window and click "Save" once more

To Install Safari:
1) Double click the icon which reads "SafariSetup.exe" on your desktop
2) Windows XP MAY ask if you're sure you wish to run this program depending on your security settings. If you see this popup, click "Yes" or "Run".
3) Click "Next"
4) Click the button labeled "I accept the terms in the license agreement"
5) Click "Next"
6) Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Install Bonjour for Windows" unless you are absolutely sure you need this additional program.
7) Click "Install"
8) Click "Finish"

Safari is now installed on your machine. Keep in mind that deleting an icon from your desktop does not uninstall a program. If you accidentally delete your desktop icon, this can easily be replaced through the start menu.
