I have an older L1011 sliding compound saw with a single slide. I have extreme difficulty in spinning the miter table. What can I do to improve this problem?
The LS1011 doesn't have a table angle release lever like the newer models so it's harder too swing the table from angle to angle, this also causes the plastic swing body to crack. Have you loosened the locking screw for the table? The table may have to be removed and the pivet shaft greased. I had this problem with an old Makita Table Saw 10" 2600.

Did you remove the center plate? It has to come out before you can remove the blade. Also make sure that the saw is unplugged before you go any further. If you still have questions contact me and I will do what I can. Also if you would like you can download a schematic of this tool at Makitatools.com just type in your model and look at the schematic. Good luck

There is a bolt in the middle of the blade you must loosen and remove it and the blade will come off. THE BOLT IS LEFT HAND THREAD so be careful not to turn it the wrong way or it will break. Superior is out of business so you probabley will not be able to get a new one.
Hope this helps

Hello stella....... There is a locking mechanism on the miter saw to lock it on whatever setting you require. loosen that locking mechanism and the saw should move for you. Here is a schematic of the parts so you can see exactly which parts are involved

Upon inspection I found a small hole on bottom of base. When I used a flashlight to examine the hole, I saw a metal ball. I took some WD40 and sprayed into this hole which lubricated the metal ball and now the base spins easier than when new. Thanks for all the assistance.
