SOURCE: chainsaw gas/oil mix ratio

I have two Stihls that are well over 20 years old. I use the factory recommended mixture, 1 part 2 cycle Stihl oil to regular gas. (1:50)

That is still what the factory recommends. Don't use a cheap 2 cycle oil, go to a Stihl store and buy their 2 cycle oil in the orange plastic bottle.

Fuel/Oil Mixture

  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 3 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

I HAVE AN OLD HUSQVARNA 65 L CHAINSAW THAT WAS MY FATHER'S.WAS GAS AND OIL PREMIXED AND IF NOT WHAT KIND OF OIL DOES IT USE.

Yes, this saw does use mixed oil / fuel. The ratio should be 50:1 and always use a quality FD rated mix oil. This is where cheaper is NOT better.

Fuel mix ratio for Husqvarna 142E?Does it use premium gas?

husqvarna 142 e will use 91 octane fuel is ok and use qood quality 2 stroke oil
at the ratio of 50:1 premix that is 20 mils of 2 stroke oil for 1 litre of petrol that you mix

so if you want to make a 4 ltre mix add 80 mils of 2stroke oil to clean container and add 4 litres of petrol only and give good shake then fill saw

cheers hope it helps

I need to know what the gas/oil mixture should be for this chainsaw as to the ratio of oil to gas.

Husqvarna engines are made to tighter tolerances and are designed to run cooler. This is why the manufacturer recommends running a 50:1 mix. A richer mix of oil (such as 40:1) will run in the trimmer, but it will make alot of smoke, foul the spark plug, and clog the spark arrestor in a short period of time.

I recommend you stick with the 50:1 mix, and use Husqvarna, Stihl, or Echo 2 cycle mix.
