When i try to take a photo it comes up with F 2.8 1/30 on the screen on my Samsung Digimax S500

There's nothing to fix. These numbers aren't showing up on the picture itself, are they? The camera is simply telling you the aperture and shutter speed for the current picture (f/2.8 and 1/30 of a second).

I have lost my cd pack of digimax s500 and i want to upload picture on my PC. please tell me solution

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I am trying to install my disc so i can upload my pics to the computer. the disc says it installed but it won't run. i get a msg that says application was unable to start correctly.

I don't think you need the software to load the pictures. Just link your camera to your
Computer. Your computer should recognize the camera and begin the upload process without
the software. Just follow the prompts

I need user manual for samsung digimax S500 camera

The manual can be downloaded from
http://www.samsungcamera.com/customer/download/cus_down_main.asp?key=s500
The USB cord can be purchased online if you Google
"samsung digimax S500 camera usb cable". There are a lot of vendors and you should not pay more than $10.00 for it.

Please rate this solution. Thanks.

Samsung Digimax S 500 Digital Camera

I bought a card reader/writer, and copied the pictures to my computer from the memory disk. I erased the disk, and now it works on my camera. Thanks for your help anyway. Problem solved.

Connecting camera to computer

You did not mention the computer.
I am going to assume it a PC and you have
Windows ME/2000/XP/Vista

The router installation has no bearing on the camera upload problem

Make sure the camera has a fully charged battery.
Plug the camera into the computer making sure the camera is set to the uploade mode.
Windos will then display the camera/scanner wizard asking you what to do with the images.
If this does not happen- look at 'My Computer'
Do you see an new 'Remoceable drive'?
Come back if non of this is happening

Hello

You are referring to the USB cord. You should be able to get a replacement at any big retail store like BestBur or Radio Shack. Take your camera with you to ensure that you get the correct size connector. If your pictures are on the removable SD memory card, then an alternative would be to buy a card reader (about $10) and stick you memory in it to upload to your computer.

UPLOADING

first, open Windows Explorer and then search for the drive letter that Windows has automatically selected to be your camera's memory card. If you cannot find it (remember to right mouse click over each letter to see a short description). Once found on Windows Explorer, double mouse click it and then search all camera memory folders for the video files. You can then right mouse click and copy each file and then past (rt. mouse click select paste from pop-up sub-menu) each file onto your pc hard drive.

Where to get a Samsung s500 usb cable

I can't imagine why in the world you would want to pay an inflated price for another proprietary USB cable. I haven't plugged a camera directly into my computer for years. The last time I did, it was balanced precariously while downloading pictures and got knocked off the table. The USB cable stopped its fall, but the jack in the body of the camera was twisted in the process and completely ruined. A much better option would be to head to your local Comp USA, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc. and purchase a 9 in 1 card reader. It's a small block of plastic with several slots that will accept a wide variety of memory card formats that have been created over the years. With this single USB device you can read/transfer data from many different devices that you may own. The reader can stay attached to your computer all the time. You simply take the media card out of your camera and plug it into the reader whenever you want to download your pictures. Simple! As an added benefit, you can now make use of that pathetic 128 meg card that came with your camera. Write all your internet accounts, passwords, and other important info to it. Then hide it in a safe place (deposit box) in case of disaster.
