Sound on LC-20SH4U LCD TV takes 15 minutes to come on
The Sharp LCD TV I bought a year and a half ago has suddenly developed a problem with the sound. When I turn on the set, there is a perfect picture on all channels, but it takes 15-20 minutes for the sound to come on. Then it's fine most times, although it sometimes loses sound again for a few minutes on occasion. I guess it needs service (it's recently out of warranty, of course!), but I want to know what to expect when I call the TV service company so I don't get ripped off for unnecessary parts/service. If it will cost more than $100-$150 to fix, I might as well buy a new set at this point.

It sounds like a main board problem. The control voltage that goes to back-light inverter board; from the main board, goes down. Contact any service technician. This is not a user repairable fault. Gopakumar Gopalan Google
TO: rdh041: I don't have the solution to you problem, but we have the exact same problem with our Sharp AQUOS 20" LC tv. Different model than yours, but same age and same perplexing issue. Several channels suddenly have no sound. If you've found a solution, would you please post it? I'll do the same. Thanks.
Sounds like the Main mother board is the problem. When the processor chip overheats, the programming information passing through the chip slows down. Most cases, replacing the main mother board will fix the problem.
I have a sharp LCD (LC-26SB14U) which I purchased one year ago and today the sound stop working as I was watching the olympics. Any idea how to fix this problem as the warranty is only good for a year.
yes and no. That particular tv you have is done for, but if you just purchased it 6 months ago, you are still within you 1 year warranty with sharp. they will ask you to take it to a authorized service center and you need to follow through with the process. about a week or 2 will pass and the service center will deem the unit unrepairable and sharp will replace it if they cant solve the problem. give em call..good luck 2u
