Question about Sony KV-32FS13 TV

1 Answer

Blowing Fuses Hello, I am working on a friends Sony KV-32FS13. The TV is made for 120 volt operation. Unfortunately when he was in Germany, where they use 240 volt. He hooked it up for a few minutes and then tried to turn it on. Obviously it blew the fuse which should have protected the power supply from being fried. So I opened it up and the fuse was burnt. I changed the fuse and again it blew as soon as I plugged it in. What could be wrong with it and what standard fuse goes insied of it. Thanks in advance.

Main rectifier could be shorted, main regulator could be shorted MOV surge supressor is probably shorted. MOV will be a little disc close to the power cord input (after fuse).

Sony kv-32fs13 chirps and flashes

Hello 0279737,

This problem is caused by a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor. I would suggest that you have this TV checked by a qualified TV technician. This type of problem requires dealing with dangerous voltages, and repair should only be attempted by a trained technician.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Blocked - Unrated Programs

Hello Mary Lou,

The (USA) UNRATED feature ... MENU selectable
Opts: BLOCK/UNBLOCK

Index says this starts on page 31 ... (it doesn't seem so)
but I found it at the bottom
of page 38 (see below)...

(sorry this is the worst display of a manualslib display)

Sony KV 32FS13 Operating Instructions Manual Page 38

You may page up & down...

I do READ... it is supposed to be MENU selectable...

GENERALLY I have gotten rid of this non-sense & password locks by skipping to the
END of the instructions and doing a GENERAL RESET.

Hope this helps.

Red blinking light, SONY KV-32FS13

The 4 blinks usually mean a vertical deflection problem. If you can solder you should be able to repair this yourself. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll provide more details and instructions.
