Sounds like you have a toasted battery or alternator. Have you performed a load test on the battery? Have you tried to charge the battery? First remove the battery and charge it externally from the vehicle. If the battery won't hold a charge, or won't hold a charge of 12 volts, replace it. Once you have the vehicle started, test the operation of the alternator. It should be putting out at least 13 volts back to the battery to keep it charged - if it is putting less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts, replace the alternator.
Dead cell in the battery would prevent it from charging fully
Bad or worn drive belt would slip, preventing the alternator from fully charging the battery
If the car will run at idle with all accessories turned on, the alternator is good and you should concentrate on the battery and battery cables. If the car won't idle, then the drive belt and/or alternator could be the issue. If the car starts everytime when it's cold and only gives you a problem starting when the engine is hot, the starter could be the issue. A bad starter will often work when it's cold (after sitting a few hours or overnight). When a bad starter gets hot, it takes more and more power to get it to turn over. Overall, I'd have the electrical system checked out. Most chain auto parts stores (Autozone, Advance Auto) will do a complimentary electrical test for you.
If the phone was totally dead before it refused to charge initially, then the refusal to charge is due to the fact that there was no residual charge left to bring it to a charge, because the battery completely died. To fix it, kick start the charging process. Remove the battery, and using a universal charger (desktop charger) charge the battery for say 10 minutes, before re- inserting the battery to the phone and continuing with the normal charging process. If this does not work out, then problem is with the charging port. It has to be replaced. This can be done by nearby local phone repairers. Hope it helps? Success.
I had the same "Replace with genuine battery" then the 10.9.8.7... countdown. Thought the damn thing was going to blow up!! Verizon switched batteries and told me the phone was dead and that they couldn't get any of my contact phone numbers off of it. Wanted to stick the ticking time bomb up their you know what. Never had any problems with the phone let alone never getting it wet. Anyway I didn't fall for their buy a new phone scheme and left the non customer service store fuming. The next day I had an old dinosaur Verizon phone activated to at least have a phone. Went home and checked a few websites for advice. One I came across made the most sense. Rubbing alcohol on the battery contacts and blow dry off using a hair dryer on the cold position for 20 minutes. Use a cotton swab and gently wipe the battery prong contacts on the phone itself as well as the battery contacts. I also wiped down the inside of the battery charging slot. Popped the battery back in and just like magic..... the phone was back from the dead. Told Verizon about the cure and they shrugged their shoulders. This works trust me and don't fall for their buy another new phone gimmick. Can you hear me now? NOOOOO
