You have a dirty laser or bad laser easy way to tell is to take your 360 apart and take the disc drive apart with the disc drive apart hook it back up to the 360 make sure to put the bottom shell back on the disc drive so you dont ground it out on the console. Look at your laser while it tries to read games. IF it produces a red beam try wiping it off with a qtip and rubbing alchol if that doesnt work you need a new laser which cost less then $10 on ebay. Hope this helps.
Yes you can fix it. Four red lights on is an indication that the video cable is not plugged into the console. I suggest you check and see if the pins in the cable and unit are not damaged and the cable is fully in the AV port. If all is well, than borrow another cable from a friend and try it in your console or try yours in theirs.
Behind the FacePlate, stuck to the console there should be a tamper proof sticker, if it's still there, your 360 hasn't been touched, if not then that wold indicate someone has taken the console apart. I think there may have been a sticker on the back somewhere also.
