Question about Sony KP-57WV600 57" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
This unit is about 4-5 years old and has had blue horizontal lines arcing across for some time , but most recently and also more annoyingly is the blue tint or fog on entire picture that makes some scenes very dark. I don't have the manual anymore.
Sounds like bad CRT, some of these sonys have had defective CRT issues, usually all will come and go sooner or later (all 3 bad), you can pull the speaker grill off(either 2 1/4" screws on bottom or 6 1/4" on back sides) and pull off the Crt box cover (2'X3' piece) and lightly tap the CRT's with tv on, if they flare or get colored streaks in pix they are bad, CALL SONY 800 # and complain, also could adjust G2 (Screen control for color) for short patch. Will need new crts.

Uscrew the 5 screws on each side of the tv beside the speakers. Pop off the front casing carefully with a tug. Careful not to pull far cuz there's one cable attached to the buttons on the front. You will see 3 screws at the lower middle. Each screw represents the green red and blue guns (i forget which is which). Change the channel so it's all dark (tv is on) making the arch lines more visible. Turn the corresponding colour screw very very slowly just a bit until it disappears but not too far(i forget which direction but one way makes the lines brighter and the other makes it darker). Pop the casing back on and put back on the screws. Good for another few years.

Oh and don't follow the Leslake's instructions for the fix by tapping the guns without trying mine first. I suspect that could make it worse, although i haven't tried it and probably never will. Just VERY slowly adjust one of the three screws at the bottom with the grill off. Trust me it works. If it's the wrong screw (colour) then turn the screw back to where it was and go to the next screw until you get the right colour.

I've fixed this already for the red arch line and 6months later for the green arch line. That was 2 years ago. Now I have the blue arch line which i'm going to fix and will share the fix with you. There's more specific instructions somewhere on the net i saw years ago and wished i kept it for exact instructions. Good luck and use at your own risk. Do not fool around or try to clean anything inside the tv. Don't have a animals nearby and vacuum the area well before opening.
