For Win 7 or 8 , go to control panel , then device manager right click on device with yellow markers, and choose update druivers, and choose option find a driver on "windows update"

boot in f8 then select last known good configuration. if this fails do system restore to the time when it was still working fine.

Hello. I also have the PV-GS39. I had the same problem as you have, here is what I DID to resolve my problem.

1.Go to: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/MiniDV-Camcorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.PV-GS39.D

the above link will take you RIGHT to the web page to download the PV-GS39 Software & Drivers that YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE. But if you have WINDOWS VISTA then you can use the WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER software that is ALREADY PRE-INSTALLED on your PC then you will NOT have to download the software from the above link.

2. You HAVE TO have a: FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD. I got mine at: Best Buy for: $53.86 with taxes. the name of this card is: DYNEX FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD.

3. You ALSO hae to buy the CORD that connects to the PV-GS39 and the DYNEX FIREWIRE IEEE 1394 PCMCIA NOTEBOOK CARD, the cord costs $36.79 ALSO at Best Buy.

I did ALL 3 of the above and now I'm copying my movies and videos from my tape in my camcorder onto my PC and BURNING the video onto DVD/CD Disks.

Here are a few examples of the type nof card you'll need to connect wirelessly:

You can buy PC-Card (PCMCIA) wireless cards at most any computer electronics store/website.

Install the driver, insert the card, then configure the wireless connection.

Try reinstalling the drivers for the PCMCIA card and get drivers for the external hard drive..if that doesn't work then get this here. Don't buy dell they have bad quality products.

check with other pcmcia cards if detect this tv card is not supporting your laptop
