Question about Radio Shack TRC-447 CB Radio

Radio shack trc-447

Looking to peak and tune my trc-447 looked all over the net can't find anything.
also i have a new cobra 29ltd classic in my van i want to peak and tune it also.
any help will be much appreciated, i am at a loss here thank you for all your help

According to the service manual for the TRC-447, the only adjustment is for "power" which is #L205. The only other step in the transmitter alignment is for the "S" meter.
On the Cobra, VR4 is AMC, L14,L13,L12 is AM power.

    Turns out that by clipping D 205, (limiter) and slightly stretching L 203, a 5-6 watt dead key can be attained, peak swinging forward to about 12. Still bumps slightly forward on RMS too. Wakes em right up, and they don`t appear too dirty on the scope.

  • I normally don't recommend clipping parts but for this radio there is not much else to do and it looks OK on an Oscilloscope too. Clip diode 205 to increase modulation. Then take a plastic flat tool and spread L 203 coils apart about a 1/8" each, nice and even and make sure they don't touch any metal.

    D205 is not correct. The modulation limiter is D203. I was only able to achieve a 4.5 watt dead key and an 11 watt swing.

Where is vr4 in a cobra 29ltd classic
near the middle of the board at rear of radio----hint: all the controls on the board are actually marked with the VR numbers, so just take a look.

Customer has lost his power supply cord. where can he purchase another cord. power cord is three prongs.

  • For the Radio Shack TRC-447 this is just a standard 3 PIN DC cord. Many CB's use the same cord and they are interchangeable. Some Cobra, Uniden, Radio Shack use the same cord. Texxcomm is a great place to get parts from.

A great mic is the RK56 $39.99+tax in Temple, TX on Hwy 95.. And comes with a 4pin for cobras but can be wired for any radio

We have a radio shack mobile cb radio given to us and was wondering if it's analog or digital. the only number on the front is trc-447. does it matter if it's one or the other? also have a 29 ltd...
All CB radios on the market are analog. The term digital, when used in reference to a CB transceiver, refers only to the display, not to the type of signal.
