Bad picture hello. i just bought this tv for a great deal for 200$ the guy sold it to me cuz he said the picture was too dark.. but i know you can change contaminated fluid... if i wanted to do this how would i go about doing it and where do i buy the fluid from? also is there any other solution that might be used to solve this problem? maybe it isn't the fluid... do you think it could be something else? thanks for your time, daniel reed

A company called mcm sells the fluid. I don't know the answers to your other problems but you can buy the fluid online. It will take 3 bottles of the fluid from mcm to fill all 3 guns.

The problem is that doing it yourself will be hard for 3 reasons. 1 - no body is likely to sell you the fluid and, 2 - you have to remove 3 ground wires, two connectors and the crt power lead,4 bolts, thoroughly clean the old reservoir with rubbing alcohol and undo the clamps , place the gaskets right and refill, refit the clamps, etc. 3 - if you don't do it right it might leak right on to the high voltage circuit and pop goes the whole TV. And even after all this , your convervance may be a problem. Also maybe it's not the fluid. I did it and it worked great , but it was not easy and unless you have a good idea of what you are trying to achieve and have the time and careful hands to do it - leave it to a pro.

Picture In Picture Feature

Hi LEE,
I just went over the specs on the 42PFL5603D. It doesn't have PIP. I'm sure the guy in the shop was confused with another TV.
There is a software upgrade for that model TV. It wouldn't give you PIP. But, It will fix some of the problems they are have with the TV right now.
Hope I answered your questions.

Hello, i have a panasonic 50" dlp tv and the picture is really dark....i bought the tv back in 2003....any suggestions...

The light engine bulb might be bad or going bad. Check it first. Then check its power source. These are you two most likely problems. I would suggest you having a TV technician perform this task.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Picture is snowy/dark

update: Well, we ended up calling the repair man and we had a bad Y-sustain board and also a bad Z-sustain board. According to the guy who fixed it, it was due to over use of the TV and using main power button instead of shutting off through the cable remote. 650.00 later and a few weeks later, we now have a fixed plasma. No real suggestions on how to get more life out of the new boards.
