Question about Akai PT4298HD Rear Projection Television

Akai tv hello, I have a AKAI model pt4298hd the blue green and red lights in back work fine however the red bows giving a double picture kind of like looking at a 3d show on all channels, make sense?

Yes it does, makes a lot of sense. you have the typical convergence amp problem that plagues almost every projection set ever made. What you need to do, and only if you have experience working on solid state printed circuit board, is to locate the STK type amp IC's, order new ones along with heat sink compound, and unsolder the old IC's and reinstall the new IC's, but do not forget to put a good coating of heat sink compoud on the backs of the new IC's before you install them. Like I always say, if you have no printed circuit board experience, or do nor solder well, play it safe and call out a pro to assist you in this easy repair. Good Luck

yep you need convergence amp replacment for your set..very common prob call experienced repair person for this job use original replacements....john

the are failing .Replaceing them will
corect the problem . The chip range
in cost from 16,00-30.00 .There cheap,
so dont let the shop over charge you

Your green gun in our tv is misagligned/out of focus. Your tv uses red, green and blue guns that layer in different shades and mix to create the different colors. Your green is a little off so the colors aren't mixing right which explains the green haze and the shadows. A tv repair man can fix this problem pretty easily and it isnt expenisve.

You may need the change the coolant in the blue tube. Convergence is when the picture will look 3D Let me know if you need more information.

Tv picture shaped like hour glass

The link you posted has been deleted, so I cannot see the picture you posted. If the sides bow in like an hourglass and the red, green and blue colors are still aligned then there is a horizontal width or pincussion problem, but if the sides bow in and the 3 colors have separated and are no longer anywhere near aligned then you have a convergence problem, both of which should be serviced by someone with experience in servicing projection TV's.

My tv

If the colors are red,blue,and green, then look for you convergence controls in the menu or off remote. If problem is more intense, then the convergence amps maybe needing soldering or replacing.

Akai tv PT4298HD wont turn on. Only timer light turns on. I unplugged my tv when the picture went off and to a static snow screen. We unplugged it and plugged it back in, when we turned it back on all that came on was the timer light.

AKAI PT5492 no power - only timer comes on My AKAI PT5492 rear projection TV has been working fine since 2001 and yesterday, without warning, it would not turn on. The timer light did go on and will now not go off. In addition, there is a clicking sound every few seconds. I unplugged the unit until I can determine what to do. Thanks- -Fred
