Dell lsl p/n: 7w036-a01 cd rewritable dvd+rewritable, ... okay, it plays music, burns cd-r and cd-rw's... i bought some dvd.rw brand maxwell 4.7 gig dvd's because im tryin to put save data before i reformat and reinstall my win. xp. ...
using nero 7.0
and anything else i can find
but it wont burn dvd's..
i looked further into the problem by puttin a fresh blank dvd rw maxwell in, and checkin the properties of the d drive. and it reads that there is no cd. sayin - mb used and 0 mb available..
talk about aggravating.
please help, thank you for yer time.
Is there really no other way than to replace the drive? Initially I thought Windows installed a wrong driver... how come the laser can't burn anymore but reads all the data anyway, that doesn't seem to make sense.
Damn I got the exact same Problem.

I have two DVD burners in my machine... one Pioneer and one Samsung... both stopped burning RW disks at the same time, but both can still burn single write disks. The same happens with CDs and DVDs. Occured after I fresh re-installed XP following a virus problem. Dear
i have this kind of drive ( 7W036-A01) , IT READ AND WRITE CD BUT IT COULDNT WRITE DVD ( EVEN IT READ DVD IN GOOD WAY )
PLEASE CAN ANY ONE HELP ?????
As soon as a dvd drive only starts to play cd's, cdrw's or only reports that you have a CDRW drive when inserting a blank DVD, the writers laser is worn out or faulty and no longer recognises dvd's, and so needs replacing i'm afraid, but as you may know it's cheaper nowadays to purchase a new writer.

cd-r80 are for music. Your best option is to buy a program like nero. I assume you are just dragging and dropping files to burn them right now. dvd's are more meant for backing up data or making movies because they hold a lot more data then a cd. Are you able to burn disc's at all? Just like all things involved with computers it can get complicated real quick.I hope this helps a little and if you have more questions let me know Thanks, Lee
Hello there:
if you are unable to get it from the manufacture of the device please go to www.radarsync.com and download this 100%freee driver utility, it will update and install any of your drivers and help install drivers for things that you cant get drivers for I.E printers
scanners/ mice/ speakers ect.ect and it is totally free ok?
best regards mike
Try another disc first ,if no luck than try another disc manufacturer. If it does not help check if you can play anything from this drive if no, check drive connection in your laptop you can also can check BIOS settings for this DVDRW drive and settings for IDE or Sata data transfer mode make shure it works in Ultra DMA not PIO mode. Be carefull with BIOS Setup!!! If nothing helps replace drive. Good Luck!
if you wish to burn cd's which is your burner then you need a software called nero burning rom or any other burning software that lets you burn data or audio cd's or vcd's to burn with if you wish to burn dvd's then you need a dvd burner combo drive which lets you burn dvds
