Zenith XVB422 DVD VCR comb

When trying to play a dvd I get a blue screen that says Progressive scan mode. I tried pressing the menu button but nothing comes up. I can get the menu up on the vcr setting but there is no progressive scan mode there. How do I get the progressive scan mode off??????

Hi skielty58...I just saw your post, so I haven't done any research yet. However, IF should you see this post prior to my, or any other contributors forthcoming updates which should contain a certain resolution, I would like you to try something during the interim. Play a dvd, and although showing the blue screen, allow to play for about a minute. Now, using your remote, press and release STOP, and within 1 second, Press And Hold Stop for 10 to 15 seconds. This trick is reliant upon the timing sequence, so, you may want to try it more than once. Another trick that I'd like to suggest is that again, after allowing a dvd to play for a minute, simultaneously press select and stop on the player...Please update your post whether positive or negative so other potential contributors have the benefit of ongoing history...good luck my friend

Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

Cannot turn off progressive scan mode on blue screen to play dvd

If you have not already seen this or done it - it worked for us:

On page 18 of the user manual under Progressive scan there is a Caution which says - If you set Progressive Scan to On in error, you must reset the unit. 1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that "dISC " is displayed on the display window. 2) Press STOP (9) and hold it for more than five seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and a picture once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

Hearing static while the dvd is playing how would i go about cleaning it

I have the Zenith XBV410 (combo dvd/vcr). I cleaned the lens using the Maxell Lens cleaner kit but nothing happened. Then I ran the Progressive Scan Mode and that seemed to do the trick. Word of caution: Progressive Scam Mode is difficult to turn off so would recommend you remove dvd from player, then press and hold the stop button for a min of 5 seconds up until whatever it takes to disablel PSM (Progressive Scan Mode)

How to stop Progressive Scan Mode?

Yes, I found the users manual.

To fix it: Press and hold the STOP button (on the remote) for more than 5 seconds.

It worked!

Stuck in Progressive Scan Mode??? Remove the disc(s) from the changer, make sure TV is on Blue Screen...should say "Progressive Scan Mode".......Simply press and hold the stop button for 5-10 seconds and it will reset.

DVD/VCR stuck in Progressive scan mode

With NO DISK in the DVD player PRESS PLAY, (display will say "no disk" or something similar) then PRESS STOP AND HOLD FOR 5-10 SECS. Our DVD was stuck on Progressive Scan Mode for over 1 year, this fixed it. I had tried the press stop, press stop and hold while playing a movie, but not while there was no disk. Try it & Good Luck!!!!!!!!
