As you are saying that you have a Lg combo drive earlier it plays both Vcd or Dvdbut now it only plays Vcd. Your Combo drive lens must be weaken. So you should try using a lens cleaner Cd or its better to buy a new Dvd-Rom it plays or write both cds or dvds. You can further contact me or thanks me on my email id [email protected]
if you have CD RAM and DVD ROM then change it to CD/DVD ram because in case of CD RAM and DVD ROM it may read CD but not DVD but sometimes it can read DVD also but when we copy data to computer it may freeze or give us error so i give you one suggest to buy a new CD/DVD RAM
Try cleaning off the laser of the dvd drive with a damp q-tip. This will make sure there is no specs of dust or dirt on the laser.
If it sill plays cd's but not dvd's then that means the laser is bad cause it takes more power from the laser to read dvds cause there is more information that needs to be verfied.
So if the laser is bad that means the drive you bought was defective. Try a bunch of different dvds to be sure you don't have any that are bad.
If your getting it with any dvd your putting in there then you know you need to get another drive.
As per its user manual you cannot play back discs such as VCD (VIDEO CD) ,CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, etc., even though they may be labelled . Please refer to Onkyo DVC600 User Manual for more information.
