I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.8. My Epson 2200 has gone nuts. It prints reds as green, etc etc. Completely unusable prints

Good Day!
Try "Head Cleaning". you can find it under printer properties, maintenance tab, then hit on head cleaning. once done, hit on print check pattern, please continue doing this until the print out goes clearer. after this, try to print a document again.
i hope this helps.

Epson 2200 - vertical lines

I don't know if this will help as my printer is a different model (the epson stylus photo r280) but I have been battling the vertical line issue for weeks, ever since getting a new imac. I am printing altered photos from photoshop on epson ultra premium matte photo paper. After trying every conceivable setting, and spending an hour with less than helpful tech support from epson (where they insisted I needed to download new drivers) I just resolved it this morning at last by increasing the dpi setting on the print function to beyond what I would normally use(1440x 1440 rather than what I had been using at 720).

The prints came out great at last!

On my older computer with this same printer the prints came out fine at the lower setting. But for some reason it appears that the higher setting is now necessary to eliminate those dreaded lines.

I hope this helps.

No shadow density in photograph printing

If you haven't been printing for 6 weeks, your print head is clogged, which is why the print quality is poor. Turn your printer on. On your computer, go to START, then SETTINGS, find PRINTERS AND FAXES and click on that. A window will open and you should see your printer. Right click on it, then click on PROPERTIES. A window will open, with several tabs. The one you need is MAINTENANCE. Open the tab and click on CLEAN PRINT HEAD. I think there are 2 options, cleaning and deep cleaning. Click on deep cleaning. You should hear the printer rumbling, then, when it finishes, it should print a page with 4 colors: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. If the colors come out right, you're done. If not, repeat the cleaning until you get a satisfying result. Just bear in mind that cleaning the print head uses a lot of your ink, so I suggest you put the refilled cartridges when performing this operation.
Also, to avoid getting in this situation again, I suggest that you print one page, at least once in 10 days. That way, your print head should always work fine.

Printing issues with Epson r285

hi! try this! 1. go to control panel, select the printer, then right click the model of your printer, select properties, then select printing preferences.    in printing preference, select effect, then check the box of vivid photos. If you check vivid photos it will add enhancement to your printout. But thats not it, 2. open your photoshop, find your color settings, set your RGB color to (sRGB IEC61996- 2.1) then you CMYK color to (U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2) then off all your Color-management Policies and don't mind anything. 3. After your Edit your photos from RGB, then convert it to CMYK, then try printing it.

Dark prints when printing from my Imac using Leopard

I was also having problems with my Epson scanner on my iMac. I read that the best way to solve Epson's problems is to (1) uninstall all Epson software from your HD, and (2) download the appropriate drivers from Epson and install them.

Note: The Epson R1800 has two drivers: the most recent is an update. So, you must first download and install the Printer Driver v6.12. When that's done, then download and install Printer Driver Update v1.02.

I did that and I still got dark prints. Then I got an inspiration. In the Print dialogue box, I changed my Printer Profile to the paper I was using, Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, instead of using sRGB and/or Adobe RGB. Specifically, I used SPR1800 PrmLstr PhotoRPM.icc. The next test print was virtually spot on to what was displayed on the screen. I am now a VERY happy camper.

Please pass this info onto anyone else who can use it.

Inkjet photo printing

This may sound idiotic, but print out a nozzle check pattern in your maintenance tab. Good chance you have a clogged printhead. Check out how to do a print head cleaning and what solutions and tools you'll need. Careful if you're using compatible inks or refilled cartridges, or long expired ink.

This one works great for me. Go GENTLY, best not to use Windex or any unauthorized solutions, as they may cause damage to plastic parts.
