Hello. Problem originally started as water dispensor stopped dispensing water. We changed the filter as manual said still didn't work. Then water stop going to Ice maker. When this happened we turned off the ice maker. The ice dispensor still works...almost out of ice. Not sure if this helps but before all this happen the ice maker would continue to make ice even after full. Any help would be appreciated; Actual product is GE Mod# GSS25WGPH

I bought a brand new smartwater replacement filter and after a very short time, my water stopped coming through the door.. took out the new replacement filter and inserted a brand new one .. problem solved.. apparently some of the g.e. smartwater filter replacement cartridges don't have the high enough two plastic inserts which are attached to them at the top of the filter when you screw them on... if you have taken your cartridge in and out a few times, i think it wears down the plastic so it doesn't fit properly and won't put up whatever it is supposed to push up to make the water come through.. I personally think this is a g.e. problem with the replacement filters...

IF YOU CHANGED THE FILTER AND GOT WATER OUT THE DISPENSOR AND HAD A RUSH OF AIR COME OUT OF THE LINE. YOU MAY HAVE GOT WATER UNDER THE DRIP TRAY. WATER WILL THEN COME AROUND AND APPEAR THAT THE DISPENSOR IS LEAKING. OR YOU MAY HAVE NOT PURGED ALL OF THE AIR. LET ME KNOW.
There should be a water filter inside the water lines to the water spout. This filter could be clogged, or the water lines themselves may still be somewhat frozen and not allowing flow to the dispenser itself. You can also test the power to the dispensor to make sure it is drawing water. Can you hear the pump trying to pump water to dispenser? The water valve should also be opening. You can test power to the valve that draws in water from the external water lines.
A lot of filters ( not all ) do not even access the ice maker . Only the water dispensor . If your water dispensor is working fine , then you need to replace the dual water inlet valve behind the refrig . This is the piece the wall water line connects to . It is called a dual valve because there are 2 coils on the valve . 1 for the ice maker and 1 for the water dispensor .
Put the old filter back on , if water was fine . You never change filter just because a light comes on telling you to . The change filter light comes on after time or usage of dispensor .( Good way for manufacturers to make extra money ) . Change the filter only when water flow slows from dispensor .
Have you checked your water valve? I dont have your model number but you could have what you call a double water valve and one side of it may be out, alternately you may need to change your water filter if you havent done that yet. I have seen were the water stops dispensing first and then stops making ice. have you changed the filter lately? If not change it then if that doesnt work check water inlet valve...
no manulal reset or fuse, buth tere is ususlly a "child lockout" feature prevent ing the dispensor from operating. check to see if the control has been placed, on, or perhaps the door is not closing fully, another reasom for the dispensor to stop
There are a number of things that can cause both the ice and water in the door to stop working. There are two control boards that sit behind the buttons on the dispenser. Either one of them may have failed.
There are several different types of dispensor controls on this refrigerator. You need to download the Factory Repair Manual for your fridge. It will tell you how to remove the dispensor cover and diagnos each board so you know exactly which one to replace. The Repair Manual will be the best source for you at this point.
