Power Acoustik PTID-8960

MrScary66613,

Still a bit confused.

Our amp is a mono amp with only one speaker output (a + and - side) for a single speaker installation. This mono amp has two RCA ports on the input side, one marked + the other marked -, but there is only one output RCA wire from the head unit. How do we connect?

Your assistance has be greatly appreciated and any additional infor will be appreciated also.

You can Actually get a Single to Double RCA Splitter for this. I think that Wal-Mart Used to Carry them. If not, Any Stereo Install shop has these and will sell them to you. You Might Try Best Buy also. Their Car Audio Install Guys may have one to sell to you.

Hi I have just bought a Sony 820av amp and tannoy sfx speakers. I have got all working except my sub. Can anyone advise me on correct cabling for the sub to amp?

Sub woofers are just mono amps. They feed both the right and left output together. So all you need is a stereo to mono cable. The two jacks go in the sub and the single mono into one of the terminals on your amp. The other terminal will allow another sub to be connected I think, though please check your manual for this.

How do i connect subwoofer (canton movie 125 mx) to amplifier(onkyo txnr609)? there is one subwoofer output on the amplifier with either L & R(mono) high level input or L & R(mono) low level input...

Connect front the sub out (single) on the amp to one of the rca inputs on the sub, This will work reasonably well but to make the most from the sub buy a 2 rca to 1 rca cable and use it to connect both rca inputs on the sub to the single output on the amp

The speakers have a jointed positive on one side and a jointed negative on the otherside. each speaker ahs 4 terminal connnections. 2 pos and 2 neg. How should i wire these to a single + - input amp?

A single mono power amplifier has usually one output to the speaker and this output can be connected to 4...8 Ohms speaker. If you have two speakers, they can be connected parallel or serial.
In my opinion they should be connected serial because in this case the resultant impedance would be 2 times more than one speaker's one.
The connection:
We have speaker(1) with poles 1+ and 1-, and speaker(2) with poles 2+ and 2-.
We have amp output with poles amp+ and amp-.
Connect speakers 1- with 2+ together,then connect amp+ to 1+ and amp- to 2-.

Installing a ptid-8960 power acoustik into my new 2011 mazda 3 what wires should connect or can i even install it without getting the wire harness adapter to make it like the same connections not quite...

You absolutely should use a wire harness for this installation. Not using one would require you to clip the wires to factory radio connector, making re-installation of the factory stereo nearly impossible. Even worse, you would have to wire the connector that came with your PTID-8960 deck to the clipped ends. This task would be nearly impossible, as the factory wiring is too short to extend out of the dashboard where you can work with it easily.

Save yourself the trouble.

I tried finding the exact item you will need, but it seems the Mazda 3 comes with stereo options that could affect which wire harness you'd require.

Here is a link to Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120707904/Mazda-Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?tp=2977&tab=other_items

You can use their site to select your car and installed options, and they will return products compatible with your vehicle.

ONKYO TX-SR701 - Hi When using the speaker config I can get output from all speakers but the Surround back speaker R does not work. I do get sound from Surround back L. It's a bit confusing as the...

7.1 would have Surround Back L and R.

6.1 would have just one back there (SB). It defaults to the Left output on the Pre-Outs if you ever go that route.

This being a 6.1 receiver it does not support two SB channels BUT you can configure those amp channels for a separate Zone supporting 2 speakers. Confused?

The manual shows a single SB speaker connected to the left side on Page 27. THAT would be consistent with a 6.1 configuration.

We are having problems with a Behringer PMP5000 board. We have the switch setting on Mon1/Mono. We can get sound out of the monitor output, but the mono output is almost silent. Do you have suggestions...

It is NOT clear what configuration you have set up and what you consider the MONO output is, whether it is the power amp MONO side output or the line level MONO 1/4 inch jack on the top of the unit (this jack is NOT speaker output). If you can run normal stereo speakers using both sides of the power amp in the AB mode, the problems you are having is pilot error.

REMEMBER the main out 1/4 inch jacks are BALANCED TRS jacks... DO NOT put mono plugs into these.

A WARNING: If you use Speakon to 1/4 inch speaker cables, remember that the BARREL of side A is HOT, not the tip!!! You can fry the amp if you inadvertently ground that barrel someplace. (Side B has the barrel grounded) This information is NOT readily available in the manual and results in many a blown amp. They do this to implement the "Bridged" mode easily.

I have schematics and can unravel most any problem you are having.

Do you mean the SPEAKER mono output or the top mounted 1/4 inch jacks?

The A side power amp is used to drive monitor speakers and the B side the mains.

All other connnections of speakers require amplifier OR powered/active speakers.

I have a jesen ka5 5channel amp plus mono and i dont know how to hook up the subs to the mono

Ok, you're going to choose 1 set of inputs for the subs on the amp (I usually use the low or rear which ever has more settings) Now in the output side you're going to use the positive side of the right side speaker and the negative side of the left side speaker (you can switch left or right as long as they are opposite sides). Lets start with the negative wire connect it to the negative input on one of the subs, connect the positive wire to the positive input on the OTHER sub, then get an extra wire to connect the inputs not used on both subs. Adjust settings in amp and radio and if it doesn't sound good use negative and positive outputs from one single output (only left or only right) Hope this helps.
