I have a JVC 56" Wide screen Model # AV-56WP74 and i have a converge problem with the red doubling on screen i have read about people replacing the IC and fixing the problem now my question is can someone tell me where the ic board is located and which chips to remove and possible a step by step instructions would help also i was thinking of just ordering the converge board and transplant the big silver thing can someone help me on what chips to buy and where and how to go about installing them thanks im in need of my big screen back nascar isnt the same anymore on a 13''
There are two of the IC's in the tv. First things first, turn the tv off and unplug it. Wait a few minutes, then open up the back by unscrewing the screws in the back panel. Now slide out the wooden panel that divides the upper and lower part of the cabinet. You'll see some cards sticking out of the plastic input panel. Find the one for DVI (it's the furthest to the right and it's at the top). Unplug all of the cables that are attached to this board. If you look closely, on the top of this board (the edge facing the top of the tv) there is a tiny little square looking hole on it. Cover this with black electrical tape or something that will not allow light in. The reason we do this is because JVC made a booby trap that erases the eeprom if you try and operate the tv with the back off. If the sensor senses light when the tv is on, it will erase the eeprom. Ok well now that that's covered, the actual convergence board (the one with the two IC's) is the board in the very front of the tv. It's long and slim and you'll immediately be able to see the two IC chips. They are big black things with lots of pins and they are pushed up against heatsinks. Those are what you would want to replace. Now I've not taken the boards out before, but from the looks of things, all of the boards are on a big black plastic tray so you can take them all out at once. I don't know if you can get just the convergence board out very easily, but at least now you know where and what it is. I would seek further instruction from someone a bit more knowledgeable about taking the boards out, but that should give you enough to do until you find more help. Hope this helped!
The red is out of line with the green and blue.how do i fix this
So tell me does this just render the dvi inoperative (I saw the note about a jumper on pin 1 to 2 after the fact) or does it actually render the whole tv inoperative? I replaced the stk's on my brother in laws tv and all it does is thump like a heartbeat from the speakers for a couple minutes and then the power light blinks in about a 2 second cycle (Low B if I read the manual right) any thoughts?

The board comes out fairly easy, my questions:
Are those the only two things that need to be replaced?
They both have the same part number "STK392-110" the only different number I could find was B2L13 on one and B2L30 on the other?
Where is the best place to orders these parts?
Other than those questions, the instructions you provided were great
