This is more likely a problem with the card. If the partition tables corrupt then Windows will see the card but won't be able to read data on the card. You will need to format the card.

SOURCE: problem with reading Sandisk 4gig hc micro sd card in my computer and laptop

The problem is that a 4 GB micro sd card is HC (High Capacity). You will need to buy a card reader that can read HC micro sd cards (cost +/- € 8).
Very important: check if your mobile phone works with high capacity micro sd cards because a lot of phones don't work with HC micro SD cards.

Don't forget to rate, thks

SOURCE: Formatting troubles for a 8gb Sandisk Micro SDHC

Hi Tony,

Have your My Computer window open and re-insert the card into the reader. If it doesn't show immediately, then right click and choose refresh. It should show up then.

SOURCE: Micro sdhc card reader will not recognize 8gig card

You problem is most likely to be the fact that your micro chip is a HC chip. HC chips have a new program that is not backwards compatible to regular sd host ports. This is a simple fix, however. If you don't trust downloading programs for it on the internet, just go to target or walmart and get a USB SD card reader, and a SD adapter if you don't already have one. The usb adapter should only be like $10 at most.

What does the mmc-SD card looks like?

Wikipedia has a picture of an MMC card at the MultiMediaCard page. Here's another one from CDW: Transcend flash memory card Does this help? SDHD is a gene; I think you may be referring to SDHC cards which are high capacity SD (secure digital) cards.

You can purchase a Targus card reader from Walmart which will plug into a USB connector on your computer. Directions on it's usage are included with the card reader. The package says it is compatible with SDHC SD/MMC, XD, Memory Stick, Pro Duo, and Magic Gate.I ran into a problem with the Targus TGR-CRD25 when trying to read an XD or SD memory card 1GB or bigger. Targus fixed it with a note on their web site:
To operate plug card reader into the USB port, go into "My Computer", click "Removeable disk drive", insert your memory card into the card slot and upload your data. Please remove your memory card before disconnecting the card reader.

My gateway computer won't read my 32gb sdhc card

If your current card reader isn't compatible with SDHC cards then you need to get one that is. While SDHC cards fit into the SD slot, they care electronically incompatible and won't work in devices not designed for them.

I have a 4gb sandisk micro sdhc with adapter and the computer freezes when i have it in the sd drive.I have a hp pavilion a1 a1203w. Is there anything i can do?? Please Help

I had a similar problem not long ago. The SD and SDHC standards are different. SD only goes up to 2GB, and SDHC (high capacity) goes higher than 2GB. THe problem is that SD card readers aren't capable of reading SDHC cards, even though the card will physically fit into the card reader slot. When you insert an SDHC card into an SD card reader, the reader attempts to read the format, and locks up the OS while trying. You'll need to get an SDHC card reader and use it separately like through a USB port or something.

Micro sd card not working

I'm having the same problem with a Transcend 4GB microSDHC card / microSD adapter. I have also found it probably has something to do with the card reader...either the card reader is an SD card reader trying to read an SDHC card OR the card reader is not able to read high-gigabyte SD cards (over 1 GB in some cases).

Problem with reading Sandisk 4gig hc micro sd card in my computer and laptop

Does the micro sd card been detected by your computer? If not, you may try other card reader, or other computer. If still does not detected, you may try to go to device manager and see whether the sd card is there, if yes, then you can assign a drive letter to the sd card.

Once SD card shows as a drive letter on PC, you can download sd card recovery software to get back your files. recommended asoftech photo recovery that helped me before. download it from link below
SD Card Recovery Software

You can refer to this card recovery tutorial
Recover files from SD Card

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use Asoftech Data Recovery to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

Reading 4Gb micro card in targus TGR-CRD25 25-in-1 card reader

This is already a really old card reader which is not capable to read HC (High Capacity) memory cards. DO, the 2GB are the largest it can read.

Card readers are inexpensive today, please buy an up to date one which can read SD as well as SDHC and SDXC card types.
