When you turn it on, LED flashes once and then it shuts off. Also gives a code 22. Had a tech out today, not sure what he did, but now the LED flashes once and then 3 quick flashes. Also gives a code 12, which I understand to mean no code. Tech didn't say he did anything. Only that he couldn't fix it at my home. There appears to be a new fuse installed in it? He didn't mention it. He said it could be a horizontal output transistor that hot-shorted. Possibly causing a horizontal drive circuit problem. And it may need the flyback replaced. Does this sound right?
He also said it could be about $300 (not including the $65 house call fee).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

most of the time the convergance ic go bad: but try this: The 3 flashes of the led when you plug the unit in is the microprocessor initializing.
This unit has an error code diagnostics.
On the front panel of the unit press and hold the INPUT and MENU buttons at the same time and hold them down for about 5 or 6 seconds. The unit should activate it's error code mode.
The led will flash count the number of flashes. It will then pause for 1/2 or 1 second. The led will flash again count the number of flashes. The unit will repeate this for about 5 or 6 times.
You now have the two digit error code. The first time the led flashed is the first number of the error code, the next time the led flashed is the last number of the error code.
First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
The symptoms you've mentioned is an indication that the unit gone to malfunction. My first advice is to unplug the unit from the outlet(AC source) for at least 15 minutes to reset the system and then check if the symptoms remain the same. If yes, lets check the LED error code to determine where the fault came from by following the steps below.
Press and hold for 5 seconds the front panel button keys "Input" and "Menu" at the same time to activate the error code mode. The LED will flashes a two digit error code. Example : if the error code is "22", the led will flash two times pause and then flash again two times and the error code will cycle for five times.
Please let me know the result to continue our diagnosis.
Please check if you can access the "error code operational check" to narrow down where the fault came from. How to enter to error code operational check. Note : The TV must be in shutdown and not have been switched off. When the TV is switched off, the error code automatically resets to 12 (no error). Press the buttons on the front panel "Input/Device" and "Menu" at the same time and hold it for 5 sec, activate the error code mode. The LED light will flashes denoting a two digit error code. Example : if the error code is 22, the led will flash two times pause and then flash two times and will repeat the error code for five times.
If you can't access the error code operational check , please let me know the exact pattern of the flashes of the led light and its color. Check if it will continually flashes green to give you the caused of the symptoms and best solution.
after tv shuts off press and hold menu and input buttons on tv at same time for about 8 second. power led will start to blink error code 12 ok 22 dead short 23 deflection failore 24 vertical failore. after you know error code have electronic technition repair for you. J.D.W.
if you hold menu and input on the front panel it will blink a code to tell you
where the error likely is. hold the buttons for 5 seconds and you'll get a 2
digit error, like 1 2 = no error.. “12” ... indicates no error has occured. “21” ... X-Ray Protect circuit. “22” ... Short Protect circuit. “23” ... Horizontal Deflection failure. “24” ... Vertical Deflection failure.
let me know what you find.. it will determine area of failure
when it shuts down press menu and input buttons both in together on the front panel and hold in for 8 seconds and see if the LED blinks a two digit code . If so let me know the number of blinks
you can do a self-diagnosis test by pressing the menu and input/device button on set for 5 sec and see what error code it gives you. Count the blinks followed by a short pause then more blinks. This is the error code.
