Hi, This is because your unit goes in to protection mode because of some bad connection in the input/output section .Disconnect your spkrs,inputs..turn the volume is Down all the way and power it up,Check your wiring for shorts at the inputs and outputs. at your service sreejith

SOURCE: My unit has power, but it won't turn on at all.

i had this same problem yesterday. what you have to do is 1) check all your fuses, 2) check your ground\ power 3) you might have to wire your power wire to your steering console (thats what i had to do)

Reset factory settings of my Denon avr 2800

From Denon support:
To reboot, turn receiver off using the small on/off button, not the big standby button. While off press the night and pure direct button at the same time and keep holding them with your right hand while pressing the small on/off button with your left. You will see your receiver menu flash. When you see it flash let go of the night and pure direct button and the receiver will reset it self to the radio station 87.50. The receiver's microprocessor has now been set back to factory default.

Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

I just got an avr 2800 but cant get any sound

it has a built in tuner, but it's difficult to use. The remote is the easiest way to tune manually. If you don't have the remote, I'd D/L the manual from dennon.

My unit has power, but it won't turn on at all.

This means that something is seriously wrong with the unit(blown amp, shorts, opens, etc.) however, you can reset the unit by unplugging the unit, holding the A and B channel buttons on the face of the unit and plugging in the reciever. the display should flash at 1 second intervals. if it doesn't stop flashing on its own then unplug and replug and you should be good to go! good luck.
