Question about Samsung HP-R5072 50 in. Plasma HDTV

Samsung tv stoped working, it now wont power on, the red standby light dosent come on.

Hi, my samsung plasma 42" tv stoped working, it just blinked off yesterday and it now wont power on, the red standby light dosent come on even. This may be self evident but i was wondering if this is the power unit that has gone, i know its not the fuse in the plug, but i wanted to check to see what is wrong with it, if anyone can tell by my description, and if anyone would have a idea on how much it would cost to repair, its just outside its warenty sadly.

Yup I would tend to agree it's probably the PSU... It shouldn't be too expensive to fix, probably an hour or so labour and either parts OR a complete new PSU, in saying that ensure ya take it to a reputable service place.. and get a "quote" B4 allowing to continue.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. 10 blinks of standby light with Panasonic Plasma indicates:
10 blinks Sub 5v SOS / Main 3v SOS DG Board
DTV 9v SOS / Tuner Power SOS

Hi the blinking light is a code. The service manual for this TV will have a description of the code. do a google search for the service manual and download it.

I unpluged mine and the light was still blinking when it was unpluged. I thought that was weird. So I pluged it back in and just heald the power button in untill the light went out. It went out within ten seconds. I pushed the power button again and the tv went on. WOOHOO!!! Just needed reset, I guess.

I could be the bulb, but I would put money on the power supply being faulty. It is a common issue with the Samsung plasma's.

It might be the problem of your receiver (the one which is inside the television). Check whether it is working and if not get it replaced.

Power supply board have dead capacitors.U know how to solder?Replaced these capacitors that bulge up,puff up or burst open.Should get ur power back.Or replaced a whole power refurbish power supply buy it at Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com.
