my laptop is on the WAN side and it connects fine. My wife's computer is on the LAN side and it is extremely slower. Any tips on speeding up the hardwired LAN side.

I have the same problem. The router is working ok for a while than slow down to nothing. I have 4 kids using the pc + a Wii and an itouch. The problem is clearly coming from the router (i have try and old d-link wired and everything is ok). The only solution i have found is to reset the router and re install it. It solve the problem but it is very annoying.I have the same problem. The router is working ok for a while than slow down to nothing. I have 4 kids using the pc + a Wii and an itouch. This could be the reason of viruses. Do you have any antivirus or sometimes antivirus itself slow down the system due to heavy file in running. So check for both and use simple and lite antivirus.
Hi Leah,
If connecting your pc directly to the modem is faster. Definitely it is the routers fault. If it is still slow then it is your Earthlink DSL is faulty. You can try reducing the MTU size (default is 1500). You can try these values 1492 or 1300 whichever works fine. You have to access the router's setup page to do this. Click the link below on how to change the MTU size on a netgear router. http://documentation.netgear.com/wnr3500/enu/202-10305-01/WNR3500_RM-07-16.html
if you want to use them both together than you will need to share the internet connection by using ICS - but on dial up this will be very slow
that also assumes you have a network adapter in the desktop
I would see if you can get a broadband connection and buy a router
I the laptop came with a dialup modem - then you can use the same settings as the desktop to dial up
Hey,
Try selecting other channels manually while configuring your wireless modem... it should not be in automatic... select either 1 or 11 then check...
try this and let me know
was i helpful?
Yes, you can connect the DI-624 to your exitsing EBR-2310, you just need to connect the a cable from port 4 of the EBR-2310 to the internet/wan port of the DI-624, then after that you can already use now the wireless to your laptop and also the wired router to your desktops.
But I may suggest you to just replace the EBR-2310 with the DI-624 so you will only be using 1 router that can cater your laptop and also your desktop, Just connect the cable from your modem that is conencted now to your EBR-2310 to the internet/wan port of the DI-624 then run the setup CD that should be it.
first of all, to check the wireless card on a friends network or a public hotspot, like starbucks. if that internet is slow, then most likely it is your wireless card that is on the fritz. otherwise, if it is fine on these networks there is a compatability issue with your router and your cards. make sure that if your router is very old, it is still compatible with a newer adapter.(e.g. n-wirelesscards maynot work with b-routers. and a-wireless cards will not work with b/g/n routers...or vise-versa.)
