My Canon i860 just can't print out black words, it's frustrating

I am 100% sure that my black inks are all full, and in the right positions on the printhead color slots too. In fact all my inks are full AND my printhead is brand new out from the box. This printer is not new however. So I did what I could to help my printer print out words from a website, I tried deep cleaning, and it did nothing to make the words appear. I did a print head alignment, I had a paper jam, it was moving & grooving, in and out motion, and finally came out, and it printed out 4 colored blocks. And got myself a error... About the 4 colored blocks,

There is a 1" inch black block, and another but just blue. And I have another set of 2 blocks, black, but only a centimeter.

Strange, then a error occurred on the canon i860 window with the ink indicators. Error says

"An error occurred during automatic print head alignment.
Press the RESUME button to clear the error. Refer to the user's guide to check the error, and reexecute print head alignment. If an error still occurs, carry out manual alignment.

I tried "nozzle check" and a the same error occured and I don't do anything.

I don't get it, what's wrong?

I have the same problem. Happened all at once but I think I had run the head alignment maintance item prior. It has been an excellent printer and I don't want a new one. I'm sure this is fixable, but how??

    Any help is grately appreciated...

Same problem all of a sudden - this printer has worked great for years but it just stopped printing the black text. I have tried everything. No luck.

My printer is doing the same thing, all colors will print fine, I can even print grey, but no black.   I get an error 2500, press reset button and run print head alignment again.    I jsut get the same problem.   By the way, when I print the alignment from the manual mode, I am missing lines "A" and "G".   It is something with the black.   Plenty of ink, no obstructions, I think I need to do a manual adjustment....but HOW!

Pull the ink cartage back out to see if a clear film is not on the cartage??? Check the area by cleaning the ink cartage with rubbing alchole, and also the area that the ink cartage goes into. Use a cotton ball the clean these area with.

Same problem. I got results by removing the ink cartridges and setting them aside. I pulled the nozzle tray and washed the nozzles in isopropyl alcohol. I also soaked the "3e black" ink tank. I dried out the tray real good, reassembled, did about a dozen deep cleanings through the software and a dozen text prints later, I have results.
Note: I did not place the color inks or black-6 back in while trying to get the text to print.
Keep in mind, I was already set to buy a new printer so fixing this with a liquid cleaner is an at-your-own-risk job.

For some reason Canon have removed manuals from their pages. Second one I have seen missing today. Here is a copy and shows connecting a camera. If your unknown phone has a USB, you can try it. This is the page of the manual that shows it.

3. Select auto dedection or Black and colour cartridge.
Then cloge all.

Canon i860 black doesnt print correct

Hi

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this I put down here. But after you don this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok it got to be the heads blockage
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Large black ink tank is not being used by the printer.

The little cartridges are pigment for photo printing. The Large black cart is ink for plain paper (usually text) printing. If you select a photo paper in the print setup menu, you will use very little of the ink.
To check the function of the large cart print out a test sheet from the printer maintenance menu. You may need to run a head cleaning to get all the nozzles to work.

Waste ink tank over flowing??

Hi, like every ink jet printer, there should be an ink pad(spunch) at the bottom of the printer to collect the waste. That spunch might be full of ink. You could locate it, remove and try to clean it under the water. See if it works

My Canon i860 is not printing magenta. I run all the maintenace functions -- nozzle check pattern, print head alignment, cleaning, and deep cleaning -- twice. Problem persists. The magenta ink tank is...

If everything is clean and working fine then you need to first replace the ink tank and then check.

Also check if its happenning with eery application or some specific applicaion like MS WORD or MS POWERPOINT.

Thanks
